Naim app update. Is it just me
Posted by: steven2907 on 15 July 2017
Since the update I'm having real problems with the app connecting to my 272... the app just searches for rooms eventhough I've always used the app so it was all set up, so both iPad and iPhone 7 continue searching,
Ive deleted the app and reinstalled it many times and also manually entered the IP address and name only for it to work until I close the app, then it just searches rooms again, I've rebooted my bt hub 6 and it's still the same, I've also restarted my 272....
When the app asks me to set up a new product it just shows the new uniti range
am I the only one with these problems?
The new app searches for rooms and I have to select my 272 every time I use it where as the old app went straight too it previously. It seems slower too.
iphone 7 > Cisco WAPs > Cisco switch > NA 272 etc etc
The new app is really flaky. We did find these issues in Beta testing and brought them to Naim's attention, but it seems they released the app anyway.
Ha ha. Typical. I can get connected to the 272 now and again on the iPad, but then it just fails again, not joy at all with the iPhone.
Lets hope they do a roll back...
Had to delete and re-install app in order to get Asset to appear - which was there an hour ago! The last straw after numerous drop outs - shocking.
Just thinking who tested this app but as above HH and team seem to have done their job.
The every now and then time that I manage to get a connection the app also keeps asking me to register my product, this has already been done
The issues of going to rooms rather than the previous screen, and random freeze ups were found, but I personally haven't had issues with the app losing contact with Asset. I'll add 'so far' to that, and now I've mentioned that it can find my streamers ok I'll be crossing my fingers and toes and touching wood for a while. Turning the streamer off and on again can cure some things so is always worth doing. It sounds like really basic advice I know, but if reinstalling the app doesn't work it may help. If not, turn off the router, switch and streamer, then turn them on in that order, leaving a while between each to let them do whatever they need to do to get the network stuff sorted out again.
Ha ha. What about the old trick (with tvs) give it a tap.
other than I think it has very little to do with the actual network. <Chuckle> Nearly everyone blames the network when software doesn't work properly, home networks are usually quite benign things
I've been lucky with my network as it's always just worked. So can only agree. Although I will try hungryhalibuts suggestion as it will do no harm..
Better not to download the update then..

I was having the "searching" problem until a brief - about a minute - power interruption this morning. Meaning EVERYTHING was shut down and restarted: modem, wifi, NAS, Ethernet, switch, all Naim gear, etc., all at the same time. Can't say it'll stay better but is much improved so far.
Hi, big problems after installing the iOS app update. I've delete it en reinstall the app. My uniti is wired connect to the internet. Make a new 'room' and put the ip-adress in it. When push on the 'room' nothing happend. Internet radio works fine with the remote control.
Any idea?

Oké, the Naim iOS app runs well after for the fourth time reinstall. Also reset the iPad and iPhone. I'am very happy with my connection to Tidal.
Since saturday i also have a problem with my ND5XS, the app does not work on my Ipad. Fortunately it works on my android phone. Hope to have an update soon.
I think Naim ought to roll back to 5.6 because this 5.7 app is unusable apparently, as they must already know themselves. Maybe it does work with Atoms but no-one has those yet!

I see that 5.7.1 has been released to the App Store but there is no information from Naim on what this does or why it was necessary. If 5.7 doesn't work for you then going forward to 5.7.1 is the only thing you can do.

Installed 5.7.1 yesterday after reading about it here. Other than the annoying delay for finding my room, and the request to once again register, am not seeing other problems.
Maybe there is no mention by Naim because this version was released accidentally?
Also, why are updates to the Naim app not being automatically shown in the App Store? For the last couple of releases, had to delete the app in order to download the new version.
iPad is at 10.2, so maybe installing 10.3.2 will help...
Strange enough. Previous updates had not made it to the App Store but were announced on Connection as well as on this very Forum. This last update went to the Store but was not even mentioned if not described on the Naim site. Indeed could it have been a premature release?

5.7.1 still making me select the room EVERY time I open it and dog slow. Any one tell me how you roll back to a previous version ?
Hopefully they let me stick to 5.6 or skip 5.7.

You can't roll back in Apple world. Only Naim could do that (if they wanted to).

You can just choose not to download and install 5.7. I forget whether you have to tell IOS not to install app updates automatically, but I rather think you do have to do that in IOS settings somewhere.

Would be helpful being able to roll back to 5.6 or correct 5.7.1 which is definitely not working with my ND5XS on Ipads. I still have 5.6 on my Iphone so i will not upgrade the app. Android version 2.0 works great so i won't upgrade when an android update will be available.
My room list runs backwards alphabetically now. (first world problem i know).
After reading the above posts, its all a bit of a mess really, but i think that all they are doing is optimising the App to work with new products, and not for existing ones.
As for the App update notifications, on my iPhone7, it only occasionally shows updates, but most of the time they will only show once i open the app store and go into the updates section.
I have to say this is quite annoying. I only have one room / device and now I have to wait for the app to 'find rooms' before I can select a device and control the NAC 272. Extra unnecessary delay every time you use the app even just to change to another input or turn up the volume. To add insult to injury deleting and reinstalling the app to try to get it working properly has lost all my upnp favourites yet again.
I suspect that regression testing for "legacy products" is not currently Naim's forté or perhaps priority, in their desperate rush to get Atom-related stuff out there.
