Naim app update. Is it just me

Since the update I'm having real problems with the app connecting to my 272... the app just searches for rooms eventhough I've always used the app so it was all set up, so both iPad and iPhone 7 continue searching,
Ive deleted the app and reinstalled it many times and also manually entered the IP address and name only for it to work until I close the app, then it just searches rooms again, I've rebooted my bt hub 6 and it's still the same, I've also restarted my 272....
When the app asks me to set up a new product it just shows the new uniti range
am I the only one with these problems?
How did you get 5.6 back ?
Curiously i did nothing ! The app was working great since friday morning so i checked the version on the app and is was 5.6 !!!
I wish mine would do that, its driving me mad as it is. Can anyone at Naim shed any light on how to get back to 5.6 ?
Hello London Lad. The only thing different i did before everything went back to normal is turn the power switch on the back of the ND5XS to off then powered it back on.... which i never do usually. I doubt this is the cause though...
Cracked it! I managed to revert to v5.6 and now everything is working as it was. Now I just have to be careful not to let ios or iTunes auto update any apps till the bugs are fixed.

Can you explain what you did? I also want to get back to v5.6.

I'm not sure it would be acceptable for me to explain on this forum but you would need to have been running iTunes on a pc or mac and have had a good backup routine.
What it has proved is that v5.7 / 5.71 were the problem as 5.6 is now quick and goes straight to the home screen of my N272 just as it did before.

Good to get the confirmation that for you 5.6 worked much better.
Naim - please add 5.6 to the App store so those who want can roll back!!
I must say I am appalled having read through this thread at the apparent complacency of Naim. As a previous contributor said the basic expectation of a Naim owner is that their kit will work on a basic consumer network setup.
I have two Naim setups - a full 500 set up with a NDS at home and a MuSo at our weekend cottage. We had guests this weekend and I opened the app to play some music - no rooms found! Tried everything delete app reinstall, setup new product- success, then no rooms found. Eventually got it to play radio but no hope of finding my NAS.
Read this thread this morning to see if there was some solution- only platitudes from Naim that it must be our networks. Helpful contributions from IT professionals but really resetting DNS etc is not for the owner of a very expensive product that worked perfectly well last week but now doesn't. What changed? Naim updated its app but it's not their fault it's my network.
It seems the eagerness of new product roll out has made a lot of existing products non functional. Time for management to actually get a grip and sort out this debacle.
Cannot wait to get home tonight and put on some vinyl while the app searches in vain for my NDS.
When I installed the 5.7.1 app the main issue was that it went to the rooms screen each time the app was opened, but everything else was ok - it found the streamers and the nas quite happily. This is one of the reasons some things might be down to networks, as the impact of the app is variable.
As a beta tester I know the efforts that Naim are going to in order to sort this out, and they are absolutely not complacent, though I can understand why people may draw a different conclusion. We are currently testing a new version of the app in order to determine whether the problems with 5.7.1 have been addressed. I can't say more than that, but hopefully that helps a little.

Yes, exactly the same issue for me!! 5.6 for me was rock solid. No hunting for rooms and it found my SU and Muso and US straight away!

I have seen from internal discussions that the software guys have been through this thread and have compiled bug reports of the issues reported here which are being reviewed.
Just summarising the issues that are reported here I see the following:

- ROOG / DAVID O HIGGINS – Slow discovery / discovery issues.

- FOURTEEN - "App doesn't work on my iPad" - can you email me at support@naimaudio.com with specifics relating to exactly how the app doesn't work on your iPad?
- DOMTOMLONDON - "Flakey" - can you email me at support@naimaudio.com with specifics relating to exactly how the app is flakey?
- NO QUARTER – Core not playing - can you email me at support@naimaudio.com please to do some diagnosis.
- ALANDG – Can you email me at support@naimaudio.com to do some diagnosis with your issues.
These last two I suspect are unrelated to the app itself...
- JSH - Internet Radio issue - can you email me at support@naimaudio.com please to do some diagnosis.
- Mike-B - Locking up on return to internet radio - I believe you've had this issue for some time and I don't think it is specific to the updated app.
@PBENNY – UPnP adding tracks issue - Can you email me at support@naimaudio.com to let me know whether the suggestion made by Tom has resolved your issue?
I do understand that it is frustrating when a new app comes out and you have an issue and the immediate conclusion is that "it's broken" (and I understand that HH is saying that they raised the issue of the app going back to finding rooms in the Beta testing so I'm sure someone will be looking into why that wasn't picked up on) but the reality is that as of yesterday we had just under 60,000 downloads of the updated apps and are not being deluged by customers with issues.
I'll try to work with you to resolve your issues but - as always - it would be far more effective if we get direct contact if you need support.

Its good to see that Naim have noted my earlier, and rather brief post concerning the new rev of the Naim App for iOs devices.
Just to add to my previous post, I have a Super Uniti running the Tidal update from just under 2 years ago, (sorry not sure what the version No. is) the SU is hard wired to a dedicated network switch and upnp NAS. I use an iPad running the Naim app to access control of the SU. The naim App. has been fine with my system since I started using it approx. 2 years ago. Then I updated the App just over a week ago, on or around the 15th July and I have had problems since. I noticed that the SU was slow to find my NAS and track selection unreliable.
I have always powered down my system after use.
During my most recent use I noted my experience in more detail, as follows:
On Saturday 22 July 2017, I powered the system up and once in 'steady state' I opened the App which took a further 30 seconds or so to find my SU, having selected the SU, I was able to access my music. Oddly the issues I had noticed immediately after the app update the week before seemed to have resolved themselves. However, about 2 hours into listening, the app froze and the SU displayed 'STOPPED' on its front screen. My NAS seemed to be 'stuck'.
I powered the system down, then powered up again. **
On this occasion the app was very slow to find rooms, but after several minutes found my SU. Tapping on the App to use upnp, allowed me to access my music lists, but the screen would return to the found rooms page after 5 seconds or so. Several attempts to play music off the NAS resulted in the same return.
I tried to select the current track at the bottom of the screen, but this simply said that it was loading tracks, nothing played. After a delay of approximate 10 of 15 seconds the track would start, play for a few seconds, then stop, this process would continue. I was not able to access the NAS library to change track.
I tried to select iradio, but the unit response seemed very delayed, like it was taking my instruction but not acting on it for say 10 to 15 seconds.
Once i got raio to stream, it would play for approx 5 to 10 seconds, then stop for the same time, then play again and so on.
By shutting down the app on the iPad and using the buttons on the front plate of the SU I was able to regain control of the SU, and NAS which then behaved as I would expect.
After listening for several hours I chose to power the whole system down, SU, App and NAS.
Tried the system the following day and found it to behave as per my description from ** onwards.
I used the system from the front plate buttons as my knees will testify to.
I hope that my rather layman type descriptions help.

Update on my frustrated rant of yesterday. Main system at home works OK on iPhone but keeps looking for rooms on iPad.
Before we left yesterday I did a complete reboot of my whole network and reset of iPhone and iPad. Apps on both devices looked for rooms and could not find the MuSo. As it all worked fine last week and the only thing that has changed is the app I can only conclude my network is not compatible with the update. iRadio works through the remote but as I "installed new product" during process I can only listen to the default stations. Incredibly frustrating considering the cost of the MuSo and its positioning as a consumer product that should just plug and play.

Tidal on the home screen is a new feature that is turned on by default. You can turn it off in Input Settings/Tidal.

Since the last update I have exactly the same issue with the app. Restarted all hardware, the first thing we do these days, but no change. The app is working but not the way it should.
NAIM should invest more in the software that is such an important part of the whole package. There IOS app has problems and there is still no PC or MAC version! On my Macbook I am fumbling around with QuteControl to control a high end Naim streamer... 21th century blues.
There is a new version of the IOS app in the App Store now, 5.7.2 and from the beta testing it looks as if this does fix issues introduced in 5.7 and still remaining in 5.7.1

Sorry no reply from myself, I've been in Brussels since last friday. David has answered (thanks) 5.7.2 is now in Appstore. No announcement from Naim that I can find, looks like we all need to keep up on our own. And 5.7.2 (beta) is working well on my NDX & most (most) problems look like to be fixed
update on my NDX 5.7.2 has also been fine over the weekend, finds room and NDX straight away - Asset working well & I Radio
OK well the new app works fine now. If I wanted to be picky it is a little slower getting to my 272 as it momentarily goes to the finding rooms screen before finding and automatically going to my 272 whereas it used to just go straight to it. All of the lag of v5.7.0 and 5.7.1 has now gone.

Still doesn't work for me with the new app. Getting frustrated.
The app for my ND5XS still doesn't work on my iphone. I've tried everything mentioned in the posts above, including returning to factory settings of my ND5XS, trying different iphone (works well on Android). When I add room manually, it looks like it does find it but after I click on it nothing actually happen apart from short response on the streamer display.
Is anything else being done with the app? Or is the problem somewhere else and the app has been fixed?
Are you using the newest version of the app 5.7.2?

Yes, it's definitely 5.7.2. 5.6 worked fine, is it possible to got back to 5.6?
