just thinking of next upgrade......

delighted with the addtion of my 300 in to the system, just pondering next step in the journey which is IMO is 90% there
current system LP12, NDX, 282, HCDR, 300, Cord Odyssy Cable, Fraim, B&W 805N
my thoughts
DR 300 (no brainer) Fraim x 2 (at present 5 shelves) 555 PS to NDX (did not feel the XPSDR added a whole amount of more detail) - Super lumina cables - awaiting Kudos new bookself speakers or similar - only have a smallish room so floorstanders not ideal
Supercap for 282? - not minded to upgrade to 252 - but adding SCDR would be half way
thoughts.......................comments?
What is your main source (you list LP12 and NDX) as i'd be looking to spend money on that first. What is it that you want to improve about your present system ?
Adding a Supercap would not get you halfway to a 252. It would give you a bigger 282. 252 is different and, frankly, much better. You owe yourself a home demonstration, if it can be arranged.

Yep.
And not necessarily in a good way.
Another possibility might be 52/SC--much cheaper, much better than 282, and the phono cards available for a 52 free you from needing a separate phono stage.

Have you tried the 555PS? Could it be that your Nautilus tweeters are already maxed out?
Time to decide if you like Marmite or not! The only way to find out is to get yourself to a dealer and listen to a 252.
Which of your sources are most important to you. For streaming, as you already have a 555, an NDS is the obvious next step....or an NDAC. For vinyl - well you have an LP12, so there are always lots of options there!!
how is your LP12 configured?
No, he does not have the 555PS yet.

Whoops, just re-read the post, you are right. Maybe one for the shortlist, then!?

LP 12 is Circus Hercluses Ittock arm Dynvector cart - spoke with Dr Peter in Liecester - advise was Radikal which I would love having been recently to Linn factory
play around 50/50 High res to Viynl - only listen to Paradise and Six Music other than that

James
system is 90% there to be honest, so its the final tweeks
split around 50/50 vinyl to high res - on the NAS Flac files which transcode to WAV
I would prefer to get a 555 PS for NDX, get that in the system and then pos look at NDS
as I mentioned in other reply deck would be Radikal from my good friends in Leicester

Nice, we are kinda, in the same camp!
That is the 282 camp, without any intentions set on the 252.
With that being said, some well respected members of the Forum, believe the improvement of the SC is marginal at best, over the HCDR!
Whilst some believe it is substantial.
Some believe, the SCDR, was actually a downgrade on the 282, compared to the non- Dred SC.
Hence, I'm in the non-DR SC Camp, the Golden Extreme!
Quiet as it's kept, looks great, bet it sounds great.
Got to spend our money on something, why not Naim!
Is less really more?
Allante93!
PS.
Ha! But if Less is More, just think how much more, more would be!
Complainants of Kuma!
Definately add a record cleaning machine to your list unless you have one already. Best £ for £ purchase I've done. My Sondek never sounded so great and is now further ahead of NDX in terms of detail and foot tapping musicality since I bought my RCM

A Supercap DR would make sense but so would a Radikal - but the 252 works well with the 300 imho (certainly better balanced than it would be with a 250.2).
Ho hum - as you have an Ittok - I would suggest Radikal and Kore, then Supercap DR. I love spending other people's money
Best place for a supercap is a superline, on reflection I think it over eggs the 282 but if you're going Radikal that might lead you down another path entirely.

I'd agree with this. I have about 5,000 LPs and buy a lot of secondhand vinyl. Last year I bought the German-made RCM, Audiodesk Systeme. It works using both ultrasonic and liquid methods. The improvement on both new and used vinyl is remarkable. Although very expensive (more than £2,000) it's the biggest upgrade I've made since buying an LP12.

I've owned the B&W N805 which the OP currently uses in the system. In my experience the N805 is a warm sounding speaker. I owned the CDM 1SE for 12 years and when I upgraded the speakers to the N805 (I still have the CDMs with me at that time), I was surprised that the N805 actually sounded warmer and fuller than the CDM 1SEs. The CDM 1SE sounded leaner and more detailed albeit slightly unrefined, but it's a sound which I prefer.
THe N805 is a natural and smooth sounding speaker, and perhaps that was the reason the XPS DR didn't bring a massive transformation to the system by adding more detail to the NDX. The replacement of the N805, the 805S was said to be more forward than the N805 but it is also more analytical and detailed.
Hi one of simplest to try would be to have your friendly dealer let you borrow a 555psdr .... I suspect this would make a big difference. The DR to the 300 would then be my next step.....exciting times ahead! ;-))
