Deleting a cd from a UnitiServe

Posted by: Richard Morris on 19 July 2017

I tried to rip a cover mount cd from the latest issue of Jazzwise. The US ripped the first track and ejected the cd. This happened again so I gave up. But I can't permanently delete the cd.

If I delete using n-Serve or the app it vanishes but shows up again, if I refresh the cache, for example.

If I access the US via Safari (web browser) and try to delete I get the message 'unable to delete the album'.

I've tried rescanning and rebooting.

So my question is: can I delete the folder from the MQ folder on the US, using Finder on my MacBook? The reason I hesitate is that there is no 'move to trash' option if I right-click the relevant folder.

You should use the N-Serve app (iOS or OSX) to delete the album. Changes to the MQ folder inflicted from elsewhere can break the database, and should be avoided. You may need to rescan before the changes show up. (There is also a recycle bin in N-Serve which you can empty.)

Deleting via nServe app is the only proper way to do it.

Get the serve to re-scan and close and open the app for the effects to show up.

If a previous rip of the same album is already in the recycle bin empty the bin (via DTC, nServe for Mac or browser interface), then try again.

Thanks all. I've emptied the recycle bin - the one track ripped was there. However cd has returned after refreshing the cache.

But how do I re-scan the US? If I go to n-Serve/Maintenance/Network Stores/e:\music the option to scan is greyed out. Would using the Rebuild DB command help?

This gets more peculiar. The cd has gone from N-Serve on my MacBook and iPhone (although it is still in the MQ folder on the US).

But it is still showing up on the Naim app. Rebooting the app has no effect, nor does deleting and reinstalling.
