Uniti Progress Update

From Trevor's last update to say that the approvals were finally done and the Uniti Atoms were now shipping, he mentioned that the first Uniti Novas were starting production. I don't know what the ETA is on the Star but it will no doubt follow on after the Nova.

Many dealers will have at least a demo unit by now. I was having a listen yesterday, very good indeed...

We are over a week since the last update regarding progress on the Uniti Nova which was imminent a couple of weeks ago? And other members are interested in a Atom hdmi and of course the Star. Can we have another update please, would be appreciated.

Hi, I received a call from my local dealer today, who himself had been phoned by Naim.  Apparently Naim Nova passed its final certification.  I also noticed an update to the Naim Nova web product page.  It has been updated with a few new high resolution photos. Although no support manual like the Atom yet.   All tangible signs we getting very close now for the Nova production release!!

Just found the new Nova manual!! Go to the Naim Atom support page. When you change the supported device it's under the list now of supported products! Now I am getting very excited....

John, if I click on support for Atom all I get is the drop down menu of questions, no means of changing to nova? Did your dealer give an idea of timing, mine is still saying some time in September. A s Richard said hopefully all we made clear in an update in the next day or so.

Found it thank you. However, it talks about HDMI being an upgrade on Nova as well as Atom, this is news to me.

then go to support in bottom left.

then under the device picture you will see "change device".  From here you can select Muso, Atom, Core or the new Nova.  Then manuals will change.

 No exact promise on dates,  but based on Atom going from certification to delivery it was a week to ten days.  So think your dealer is realistic to suggest September.    I placed a deposit in November'16 so hoping mine will near the top for early delivery in the month.  

Yes Gazza saw that about HDMI in the manual.  But when you look at web product page no mention it's an option like on the Atom.  Taken a screen shot just in case it becomes an issue! If mine does not come with it or they try and charge me extra will consider it a trades description issue!!  Naim you been warned, when I placed my deposit the only option was the DAB board.

Just checked and uniti Star makes no mention of hdmi being an optional upgrade, should also be standard in sales literature.

Correct I paid deposit based on the website specification.  No expectation that things being suddenly left out.  Was also guaranteed the 2016 price as part of this early order with deposit.

Looked at a few dealer online price lists and some state Nova includes Hdmi, or just a Nova price, additional for DAB, but Atom always price either or without HDMI. So hopefully the support page for Nova is in error.

Aren't you both going a bit over the top here?  If Naim decide to change the spec thats within their rights (pre-production material will usually state that all details are subject to change).  Your right is then to not purchase and have any deposit (which is between you and the dealer not between you and Naim) returned.  I can see there might be disappointment and you might have to look elsewhere for a product but no one is holding a gun to your head to buy the Uniti Nova especially if the final device doesn't come up to your expectations.

As it is its probably a error on the website due to someone cutting and pasting the details.

Just out of curiousity; I've ordered my Atom in May this year ... I've just had a call from my dealer that my Atom will be available not earlier than the first week of September :-( 

But: I've ordered an Atom without HDMI, so I wonder if it wille be possible to retr-fit the HDMI option. And if so, will it be a simple action which can be done by myself or my dealer, or will the Unit need to be returned to Salisbury?

This is covered in the FAQs section of the Atom on-line support pages on Naim's website. It says that an upgrade kit will be made available by Naim and you should ask your dealer whether they will be offering it (which to me implies that it's a dealer fit, not a factory fit).

Phil Harris said in the original Uniti launch thread that the HDMI functionality wouldn't be a DIY fit though (I just re-read it).

If it were me, I would probably get my dealer to change the order.......

You're right, Inreceived a swift reply which stated that a dealer could do the upgrade.
