NAP90 Service?

I have an old CB 62/90 combination that has been gathering dust for a few years. My son is getting into hifi and it could be better than the sorts of single box solutions that he can afford. My only concern is the NAP90 which sounded pretty ropey when I last tested it. The question is whether it should be serviced. The 90 was never a classic Naim unit and when I asked about servicing it a few years ago, one well known company flatly refused to touch it. If a service makes no sense then I could sell them both and get him a 5i instead.

You could check with Class A or the Naim factory on availability and price for a service.  It's a nice little amp but was always one that Naim built more because they had their arm twisted to do so by their dealers and distributors in order to provide an entry level amp below the NAP140. I have an original NAP90 and have compared it with one of my NAP110s - the latter is unquestionably superior, particularly when also asked to power a pre-amp.
