SuperNait freez up

Posted by: Robiwan on 11 August 2017

My 2011 SN freez up now and then. Sometimes it works for weeks without freez and sometimes 2x a week. Before the freez problem occur SQ suddenly becomes dull and liveless and then the SN freez. It will not respond at all by remote or the front buttons. Turn power off and on again cures this problem. I use a plasma tv (not connected to the SN) but even when the tv is off freez can occur. The DAC is connected to a Sonos Connect. But even when the dig inputs are set to analoque freez can occur. It is totally random. So very annoying and i always ask my self if the SN SQ is optimal or not.

Others have this problem to?

Could it be another remote control in the area that the SN is picking up causing the lock up

I had this problem with a 'fits all' remote for TV/BR/PVR.   I removed batteries from it went back to using the individual TV, BR & PVR remotes.  Problem solved.

it has nothing to do with other remotes it is probably an internal board fault that can be fixed with a firmware update. But i have to travel to the Dutch Naim importer for 190 km (total) which i don't like

Why don't you send it to them? I did the same when my HDX needed repair ...

Does it have a TV set such as a Plasma screen right overhead?  Or is there any low voltage lighting nearby? Or maybe something that floats its earth and is grounding through signal connection to the Supernait? Either can be a source of IR problems that can sometime result in a logic freeze.

OK,  I was just telling you what worked for me.   I'm not at all convinced its software,  Supernait hasn't had an update for years, & it was OK once (I assume it was trouble free at some time),  what has since changed in the software to make it go bad.
