Problems getting up out of the chair
Posted by: Miki185 on 13 August 2017
Hi all,
I opened a thread renecly asking a question regarding the Kudos 707.
They are placed in my home for about a month and they're now in the middle of their break-in period.
Yesterday I added my secound 555PS DR to the NDS (which I didn't like with the SL2/ProAc) and now it's one of
the biggest improvement a naim's folk can have IMHO.
I followed Darke Bear's advices regarding this: 1. Analogue PS at the bottom; 2. SuperLumina IC is located free of touch
with a loop in order to not touch the floor.
This speaker is treating every single piece of sound with a great ease. Never ever annoying nor harsh.
Dryness, etch, edge, overdamped bass, muted, uninvolving - simply don't apply to the Kudos 707.
The speaker produces the most natural and realistic sonic pictures I've yet heard in my listening room.
I now have problems getting up out of the chair...
Bravo Naim & Kudos.
Miki
I feel your pain Miki. Same problem here with a pair of 707's, continuing to improve with run-in. They seem to do everything just so right - making the music sound transparent, vibrant, detailed and alive whilst maintaining a sense of ease and integration via a nicely 3D soundstage.
Enjoy.
John.
Congratulations, what a nice problem to have.... enjoy.
Hi Miki.
What a lovely thread you have started here. I have just ordered a pair of 707 so this is good news for me!
You say you have placed the analogue PS at the bottom of your rack. I've got a 252 so I suppose you mean that the system sounds better with Supercap on the bottom?
Nice system you've got, maybe I'll add another 555PS too.
i am surprised that you can afford a chair. Great set up there.
I also have a problem getting out of my chair. In my case it's rheumatoid arthritis. Thank God for streaming I say.
Congratulations Miki, delighted to read of another happy Kudos owner!
John had a lovely pair of Kudos Titan T88 at his place on my last visit, so he must be really suffering with the even better integrated Titan 707. John, you really have my sympathies
Get well soon Tony. Not sure that even a pair of Kudos Titans will help you much, suffering as you are with a pair of active DBLs!!! I'm streaming music too these days, via a Naim DAC-V1 and a NAP140 into a pair of PMC DB1i monitors, and loving how well it works. Don't be too jealous now.
Best regards, FT
No 707s in this house.....yet, but I too recently made the shift from Proac to Kudos (a bit lower down the ladder), and am now having similar problems dragging myself away from music, so I thought I'd chime in here. The speakers are only the little Kudos X3s, and I've had them a couple of months now, and absolutely love 'em. They're just so lively and engaging, and yet never.....well....Proac-D18-like for the want of a better phrase. So easy to enjoy, I can literally listen to them at enthusiastic volume levels for hours on end without any irritation at all. A really well judged speaker design, and Kudos have a new fan. Based on my own experiences and various other posts I've read lately, Kudos speakers seem to be a superb match for Naim gear, and at every level it appears.
Who knows what will happen next, but when the speaker upgrade itch comes, Kudos will be top of the list to explore based on recent experiences. Some time away though, I think ..........................................Yeah, right.

You beat me to it Tony!
But seriously, when I feel like a good Steak, I don't go to Mr. Chicken. Although, Mr.Chicken does a fine T-Bone.
Kudos may have not pioneered the Landscape of Fine Speakers, but they are well established!
Now Linn & Naim, that's what the do, Turn Tables & Amps!
No surprise, that the 707s, complements your beefed up, dual 555 Power Supplied NDS!
Enjoy your Speakers!
Allante93!
PS. Funny thing, Kudos appears to be more of an House whole Naim, than Focal!
Linn/Naim>Focal/Naim
Just saying.
I have the same problem here with 707s, serial number 005. They are truly fantastic With great soundstage, depth and integration across all frequencies. I tried putting my old speakers back into the system. The best way I can describe them is, noisy and they are really good speakers too. I think Kudos have produced something quite extraordinary.
Re: 707 - What about placement in the room. Would like to know distance from back and side walls if possible?

I placed my (808) 23" from tweeter to side wall and 34" from back wall to rear of speakers and very slightly toed in.Did a few placement,an inch or two either ways but couldn't hear any difference and it's a pain to move around a two box system,so settled for 23"/34".
Thanks AYAP1, I suppose this is roomdependent and the smaller 707 can be placed closer to the walls.
F.
I tried 16" and 11" and settled on 12" / 30cm to back of speaker.

John, thanks for the update. I was itching to ask on your 707 thread just how the burn in experience was panning out. congratulations on finding an even better music solution in your system and room. Out of interest and to be empirical, is there anything you miss about the T88's in comparison to the 707's?
Elkman, 'Noisy' is a powerful comment. I think I understand. Though I'm enjoying my music more than ever having added the 552 and DR'd 500 in the last 9 months, I think my Shahinian's now sound the way you describe your old speakers and I think I can hear what better speakers might bring. Expensive hobby...
Kevin - the 88's unsurprisingly have more absolute scale and power capability but could tend to sound a bit overblown in my modestly sized listening space. The 707's are a better sonic and aesthetic 'fit' in my room and do everything better for me in terms of musical resolution and engagement. They produce a more agile sound with a lovely lucid transparency to the mid-band. The tweeter used in the 707 sounds sweeter too.
I have them sited about 11" off the back wall with a touch of toe-in. Isobaric bass loading maintains a well controlled grip on the bottom end without the speakers needing a lot of back-space.
John.
Hi John,
Delighted that you are enjoying them so much. I'd love to pop in for a listen, once I've got the new company running well.

Try HSL......

Belated thanks John. Out of interest, can I ask which music genres you tend to listen to ? For me, Classical (everything from solo instruments to Mahler) are about 60% of my listening, so hoping you may be similar?
From your (and Elkman's) descriptions of the results you are getting I think I may need to hear 707's. Perhaps vs PMC Fact range.
