Audirvana 3.1 released

Just a heads up to those interested that Audirvana 3.1 has been released which, in a addition to the usual good stuff, brings streaming to  UPNP and DNLA devices

Audirvana UPNP is awesome, now I can stream Tidal directly to my Linn streamer via my home network without any wire. The Linn streamer can of course play Tidal, but I sometimes experience dropouts, whereas Tidal from my Mac mini is extremely reliable, never suffers from dropouts.

Well,  after playing with it for 1/2 day, I do not think Audirvana UPNP is ready for prime time, especially in the context of the Linn streamers.

This is great news! I initially had problems but after I restarted Asset UpNp all is OK.

Are you saying restarting Asset fixes Audirvana upnp? That's odd!

Personally I don't understand the purpose of UPnP serving by Audirvana - its strength is as a renderer, not library management, while there are plenty of UPnP servers out there that work perfectly well, and as for Tidal, I thought Naim streamers were enabled. The error free Tidal access Quang Tontgat mentioned would seem to be a benefit, but getting tricky NAim wifi implementations to work can hardly have been the reasoning behind Audirvana implementing  UPnP

Nope, Audirvana UPnP is a renderer, but it sends the music stream via the home wifi network, nothing to do with the music catalogue management, which is different than Asset UPnP.

I still don't understand: how can it send a rendered stream via UPnP? To what, another renderer?

For example, some streamers like the Linn Akurate DSM can accept UPnp AV, Audirvana automatically detects it and can send the music stream to it, similar concept to bluetooth or airplay.

In this case, the destination device can benefit the high SQ from Audirvana.

Ah, thanks - I didn't know that.
