Nova .v. 272 / 250DR

just auditioned the Nova versus the 272 / 250DR. First thing to say about the Nova is that it's a piece of art - fantastic build quality and the screen looks amazing. Sound was impressive too. BUT. The 272 / 250DR was the undoubted winner on the audio side. The level of control was a clear step up. Emele Sande, Read All About It was the track that did it for me - tthe bass was definitely more tightly controlled and balanced. Auditioned them paired with Proac D20R speakers as these are what I have at home (def. recommend these speakers - What Hifi raves about Spendor and PMC but these were my pick out of the three when I bought them last year).

what are other members experiences and views on the Nova .v. 272 / 250 DR set ups? I know there is a price difference, my wife hasn't let me forget that!!!

I think the real comparison would be with the SN2 or Superuniti. The 272/250 is twice the price of the Nova in my part of the world, you would be hoping for a significant step-up but good that you have heard both as it gives a frame of reference,

I briefly heard both and yes there was a difference as you mention, however it's not really a fair comparison due to the price difference. I would like to hear the Nova preamp section with a 200 or 250 vs 272/250, that would be fairer. I think they would then be very close, or maybe the Nova better, who knows?
