Should Naim burn their equipment in before selling?

I ask this question so the consumer gets the product as intended upon purchase. What do you think?
(Maybe it's my impatience awaiting the 552 DR, while listening to a fully optimised 252 DR and 24 bit 96 kHz Bob Dylan. And mighty impressed at the present!)
well if you want to wait for 2 more months for Naim to run it in at your expense (they could charge you for time), go ahead and be our guest.
as you say yourself, don't spoil what you have (getting your 552) with what you wish for (2 months of delay, but run in)
All part of the journey in my opinion.Going through the ups and downs as the system settles. And then the moment you know the system is on song,WOW.
Naim already do the first part of it by virtue of their 24-48 hour soak test.
Otherwise, I'm standing by for anyone wanting to have their Statement amp run-in for a few months before taking delivery...
If the ex demo 250 I bought is any guide they take a while to settle after being moved too. Admittedly that amp was transported bungeed on the back of a 35 year old moto guzzi so might have been a bit more shaken than most but it sounded really dull on its second day in my rack and it was in use half an hour befor I took it home. It was better again on the 3rd day but if that second day hadn't been a Sunday it would have gone back. It took about two weeks to fully settle.
Would you like your car run-in by the manufacturer, or your local dealer? Delivered to you with some minor wear 'n' tear, along with some mud and general muck embedded in the carpets. A thousand miles of life scrubbed of the tires and brakes. And all probably conducted by someone that thought 'let's see what this baby (or heap of crud) can really do'. No thanks. Bring it to me tested and pristine, ready to be brought round to my way of thinking. Thank you very much.
Imagine all the audiophilia nervosa types getting hung up with questions...
how many hours, what music was used, what was room temp, which cables... etc etc
It does seem a bit odd that the equipment works far from satisfactorily for days or weeks from new. If you bought a new car and was told it will run a bit rough for a while or your flash watch won't keep time you would not be impressed. What other piece of consumer electronic equipment needs this running in period?
I like running my items in myself in my own home. It's great hearing things improve, loads of little wow moments rather than just one big one.

For a second I thought..
It's a no to me as the gear is not considered as new anymore if it's used for few months. One can always buy used but fully run-in gear. Perhaps not few months old but 1 to 2 years old equipment is not difficult to find.
NO.
Burn in is a fairly benign process in my experience. At least with Naim. My old friend Bob Crump of TG Audio used to burn his power strip and power cord products in for a full 30 days before shipping them. His meter drew so much current he was suspected of growing marijuana and visited more than once by the police. Clearly that level of suspicion and current draw is not for everybody. Thus, I surmise, the home burn in practice which is more common and which the consumer pays for.
It is more than enough the amount of money we are burning to get the NAIm gear. What they could do is water down their prices a bit.
Witch Hat have historically burnt things in I understand.

A 24-48 hour soak test seems reasonable to me especially as I have heard of some manufacturers who build on one day and ship on the next.

Agree with Drewy, it's all part and parcel of the upgrade experience.
I see...
So, would the analogy of having 'special times' with one's partner be a good analogy?
is that oblique enough to be printable?!!
Erm....not really. Would you want Naim, or anyone else, to do that for you?
....actually, I see what you mean. Still can't quite liken the two though.
