DAC-V1 audiophilleo volume issue

Posted by: shrubbery on 06 September 2017

Hi,

I am currently utilising a DAC-V1 connected to a Mac Mini with Roon via USB.

I have the DAC-V1 setup with 'PC Volume' enabled so that the main output volume of the Mac Mini directly controls with hardware volume of the DAC-V1. This is great as I also have Roon setup so that the volume control within the app adjusts the Mac Mini volume and thus the volume of the DAC-V1.

I have however noticed an issue that effects the volume levels when switching between tracks of differing bit depths / sampling rates. I can switch between sources that are 24bit and DSD without issue but if I then play a track that is 16bit, the main system volumes reduces to almost 0%. The same thing also happens if I listen to a 16bit track and then play a 24bit or DSD track.

I can even reproduce this issue by manually changing the default audio output format of the audiophilleo device within the Mac's Midi settings. Whenever I change the device to output in any of the 16bit options the system volume is immediately reduced to almost 0%. If therefore appears that this issue id with the audiophilleo driver on the Mac (which I can't find any way of updating).

Roon has a handy 'Radio' mode that continually plays tracks for you when your selected music has finished and this is pretty much ruined for me as the music periodically disappears whenever a 16bit file is involved.

Is there a support area of the forum that I can raise this to as it looks like a bug to me?
