Atlas Hyper
Posted by: Perol on 08 September 2017
I have a CB Nap 250 coming in soon
Currently running my Nap 180 with a four mtr pair Hyper speakerwire
I wonder if this will match required capacitance needed ?
Allready excellent on the 180 but just wondered the specs.
Both amps recently serviced
Pre is 152/FCXS (I know)
Source RP6/Exact/Aria - CD5X/HC - Nat03
I have a four mtr pair Tellurium Q black too, but expect to wait a bit with this untill dust has settled, I hate comparing cables knowing both are quite interesting I insist running the stuff some months before doing swap
It's not a poor posting, but it's certainly not a great one either.
Why should one LIKE it??!!

Sorry
Part of my signature, explained in padded cell
No relevance to this thread, I will delete signature, again my apologies
No need to apologise -- just thought it was a weird signature... Haven't followed any Padded Cell thread.
From the specs available on the net, the inductance and capacitance of Atlas Hyper are significantly off from the figures for NAC A5, and thus presumably from the required specs for the amps. Capacitance way higher, i.e. five times higher or so, and inductance half the value given for A5.
I liked it, atlas iş a good brand without any spotlight
Those specs are running a bit marginal for a CB amp - too close for me to call on which side they fall (OK or Not OK).
I just can't say as I don't have enough specific knowledge.
Ok thanks
Those specs tell me nothing I'm afraid, not tech minded
I have been running the Hyper some months on my 180 with no issues and like it slightly better than some Odyssey cables I have lying around, maybe its better for the 250 or my Tellurium QB ?
All 4 mtr pair
Rather confused now
Heat is a clue, if it's oscillating it'll get warm. It should only get warm when you're giving it some work to do.

My 180 remain cold in all work loads using Hyper 4 mtr
Way back I had A5, but I'm convinced I prefer the Hyper presentation
Can someone do the math ?
How long pair Hyper is needed as minimum, to be on the safe side running Olive/CB kit ?
The original NAP250 - CB or Olive - should be run with either Naim NACA5 or Naim NACA4 leads. Very simple. There is nothing to calculate here.
However, the OP is free to take risks with his CB250 is he wishes. Shame to waste such a good amp, but there you go....

Hi Ian
Thank you for input
Previous I have been running A5 and finally sold it on as I liked to experiment with various Chord, Atlas and Tellurium solutions, a friend grabbed the A5 so thats it. I had amplifiers which should not perform cable problems, a Nap 150x and a Witch Hat Moonlight. I'm aware the 180 should have 3.5 mtr minimum but honestly I ran it with Odyssey and Hyper 4 mtr pair with no issues seen or heard
I have even had A4 and the eqvivalent Linn K 20 years back and they are excellent cables, ran them on a 160 and an olive 250, all long gone. In fact a 6 or 7 mtr pair performed even better.
Maybe I should wait connecting my cb 250 until further notice, I came go think I have a Linn K400 biwire cable lying around, maybe got that reterminated ? Its 5 mtr and much shorter on other side hence I won't use it on Naim amplication, guess I could use the 5 mtr one side, and cut to two channels singlewire use, will this make it into a K200 ?
