Nac272 remote not working

Posted by: Longshanks68 on 09 September 2017

Hi, my first post. I purchased a used Nac272 some time ago and all was working well. Then the other day I was turning the volume down a little with the remote and it just stopped working. No function on the remote worked. I also have a superuniti that uses the same remote, that worked fine on the 272.

I called naim and explained everything. I couldn't of had better service,  they sent me a new remote in the post the next day.  Unfortunately this morning when it arrived,  only the volume and the mute buttons worked on the remote

I have now tried the aux,I and 5  set up also the aux I and dsp but nothing. Any thoughts please.

You do have the remote in the correct mode as detemined by the system component buttons?

Hi, sorry I can not see any mode buttons on the remote.

I mean the Pre, Rec, CD, Tun buttons. Which one you have pressed will determine which of the other buttons operate. I am guessing, not having a 272 to hand, you will need to press the CD button.

i always thought the buttons on the bottom of the remote was to activate the outputs on the back of the unit and I radio etc

Cd, iradio, pc, iPod,tv,av & aux.

Ive pressed everyone now but nothing.

My old remit just stopped working, the new one from Naim only works the volume functions.

My supperuniti remote which identical to the 272 remote works everything as old 272 remote did, so guessing there is nothing wrong with the main unit.

Thanks

Oops, didn't know it had automatically put an  email address in, sorry.

I'm  asuming it must be something simple, what though I don't know.

Moderated Post: I've removed the email address for you.

It was something simple.

Below was the  technical guidance I was given from naim that got me up and running. Hope it helps someone in the future

"So it should be a case of simply setting the two units to the same codeset using the aux - i - disp (where you can use disp or any of the numeric keys to set the codeset on the 272 and remote).

If you're not getting a message on the 272 but the volume and mute are working then I can only suggest that the pairing sequence is not being done correctly - you need to be pointing the remote at the 272 with the buttons pressed as the 272 powers up and keep them held until it has fully powered up.

During that sequence the remote takes on the codeset that you are selecting and also sends a command to the 272 to set it to that same codeset ... if the codeset on the 272 is already the same as the one being selected then you don't get a message on the display but if it is changed then you'll get a message saying what it has been changed to - the fact that you are trying both disp and 5 and not getting that message does make me think that it has to be that the pairing process isn't being done correctly."
