NDX track query

I rip tracks from CD's using DbPoweramp, and play from my NAS using Asset. So far everything has been fine but the latest CD I ripped has produced an odd result - I can see all the tracks on the NAS, and I can play all the tracks if I use the Naim app on my iphone BUT if I use the remote I can only see one track in the NDX display, and only that track will play.

I don't think this is a hidden track issue, and I've tried deleting the file and ripping again but no change (also checked in itunes and the whole thing displays/plays without trouble). The metadata listing in DbPoweramp matches the files I can see on the NAS.

It's not a big deal but is there a known reason for this?

Hi John,

I suspect a tagging issue i.e. the track you see via the NDX display has one or more tag slightly different from the others. When you select via the remote, which browse view are you selecting? e.g. albums ?

Have you tried selecting the same files via the remote using a different browse view e.g. artist ? if so do you see only one or all tracks ?

If one track has a slightly different tag name e.g. an additional blank space at the end of the tag for the album title or artist , then it would appear separate from the other tracks on that album.

Thanks - I'll give that a try and see what happens!

yes it looks like a tag issue, just check the tracks as they appear on the NAS, the remote or app gets the information from Asset so insure Asset is correct and either direct or from app it should be the same  -

One track will very likely have a different album title, artist, track or genre, which will upset either the app or the remote, depending on how you are searching.

Another thing - look for hidden spaces in the file name / artists when checking the metadata.

Thanks for those ideas - I'm sure that is the issue as after SJ's post I tried different views and I can find the tracks in the "Album" view and play them - so I'll trawl through the metadata at the weekend and check for those problems.
