Naim Uniti placement and proximity sensor

Posted by: YiannisK on 23 September 2017

Hello friends,

I have just acquired the Uniti Nova and I love it... but I am trying to find out if the front screen is meant to turn off completely after a while or not. I understand that the proximity sensor illuminates the volume ring but what about the front screen? At the moment I can see it displays the input selection (e.g. Digital 1) and remains so irrespective or proximity. Is this normal?

Any experiences with this?

Thanks

On mine if I am playing an album just the album cover is shown. However when you approach the screen it shows album cover, group and the title of the track playing. But that’s all.

Also I have set up digital 1 for TV and digital 3 is my BNC in put from Uniti Core. These inputs remain on the screen during playback, no album shown( obvious for tv); no album cover shown for BNC in put by core music, so proximity is not activated. Playing Spotify does show album cover. Album covers and proximity are activated by Upnp server input.

Thank you very much for the great info. So I understand that the screen shows which input is active irrespective of proximity sensor activation. I have placed my Nova inside a shallow shelf in the av cabinet and I was worried this would confuse the sensor but it looks this is not the case.

To be honest though, I wish there was an option to set the screen to be completely off during playback

Cheers

Yiannisk, I think that may well be coming in a future firmware update.
