seems there is a new iOS app. V5.8

no mention of this version on the updates thread?

Had to uninstall 5.7 first.  Running well on iPad and iPhone 7 with iOS 11.

Original smoothness restored at last!  Reconnecting to the last room as expected.

Thank you!

I like it - It seems to retain the Tidal sub menu on the main page.

We have been testing betas of 5.8 for a week or so. The Core ripping monitor now tells you whether there were errors as the rip proceeds and at the end of the rip the screen stays there with that info until you do something to make it go away.

Finally, after 12 months of asking.

Any sign of classical music metatag editing? I'd look myself, but my Core is packed in its box.

Jon

No there are no more changes to metadata editing so far, but to be fair to them they have been busy doing Atom, then Nova, then Star related stuff recently. So we can hope that they will go back to Core and sort that out next.

iOS 11.0.1

I haven't yet upgraded to ios 11, but the new Naim app is working very well!!  Very fast and stable!

Thanks to the developers!!

FYI note that, in terms of seamless integration with iOS 11, Naim app 5.8 has not fixed the slide-over issue on iPad Pro as described here https://forums.naimaudio.com/to...47#71962434750979147.

Under iOS 10, at least the Naim app could be used as a slide-over app in portrait mode. Under iOS11 it appears but cannot be manipulated properly. It still crashes in landscape mode.

Reported to Naim as this long-term issue was scheduled to be fixed in 5.8

Must admit the ripping monitor is a nice improvement over the previous software.

Posted on: 27 September 2017 by jon h

Well it couldnt have been worse or more opaque.

I have unpacked my core and am trying some discs on it to see whether "0 errors" is real or just a bit of text...

Posted on: 27 September 2017 by Gazza

Certainly I ripped 3 used discs from musicMagpie this morning, zero errors.

Posted on: 27 September 2017 by jon h

Have you listened to them?

Posted on: 27 September 2017 by Gazza

Listened to North by Elvis Costello sounded really good?

Posted on: 27 September 2017 by nigelb

That is weird. I have just put on North for the first time and am listening to the first track then I saw your post.

Sounding good so far....

Posted on: 27 September 2017 by Gazza

Very weird, but do enjoy, great vocals

Posted on: 27 September 2017 by jon h

I meant that without listening to them you don know if they are actually good rips or not

Posted on: 27 September 2017 by David Hendon

I listened to a rip. Naim said it was fine and it was.

But you can't extrapolate from that the idea that all rips said to be fine will be.

Like you can't prove that drinking a nice Shiraz is going to be great, just because this one is, to take a topical analogy.

Hmm not sure I am qualified to comment, but I was a bit surprised there was not a single error out of how many data bits? But my glass is half full, hopefully a great rip? Most important it sounded great.

Same experience.  I waited a few days for 5.8 to appear as an update on the App Store but this hasn't happened so far.  Anyone not frequenting this forum may well have missed this new version, which seems a pity.
