Guru Audio Solid speaker cables

Posted by: rmatosev on 26 September 2017

Hi,

does anyone have any experience with this relatively new product?

I just love when company advertise the new product with:

The world does not necessarily need more speaker cable. Not to mention more magical thinking that tends to surround these mysterious conveyors of electromagnetic pulses that we perceive as sound. But when our engineers decided to create the Guru Solid speaker cable, it was because they were unable to find precisely what they were looking for.

It is not expensive and at least judging by the colour scheme, it looks as it was produced by Supra Sweden. I found no reviews online, so maybe some forum members have tried them, especiallly in the context of Naim electronics (and in my case Guru QM10 speakers).

Maybe our Scandinavian friends would know more?

thanks

No more magical thinking. So here’s some of our own?

Well, for no more magical thinking, how about twin and earth mains house wiring cable?
(btw, the signal conduction in the cable is electrical not electromagnetic, the electromagnetic emission is a side effect of the current being transmitted, and is a loss, not part of the signal transmission.)

On the other hand if you value high purity copper and solid core, DNM Resolution is cheaper.

Maybe "they were unable to find precisely what they were looking for" because what they wanted was a USP to take to market?

Its hard finding the right sort of magic smoke to put into your products.

I've always thought that was easy with cables: Just pass enough current through them and the magic smoke appears... as if by magic!

I remember a cartoon in hifinews. Old chap putting batteries across the speaker terminals. To flush out all the old electrons and replace with with fresh ones so you had a low Tired Electron Distortion.

Sometimes I know how those electrons feel!       I think the TED is Tired Ears Distortion!

I have tried two Guru products both were excellent and I kept one the QM10 loudspeakers for about a year. The company are a bit sketchy when it comes to getting products out there but I would imagine if I still had the QM10's I'd probably give it a go. When a speaker company designs a cable to go with it's speaker's then unless it is stupidly priced it must be worth a punt.

Yeah, I'll give them a go.

and report here...

Have you checked the electrical properties of the cable, especially the capacitance?  Have you read Richard's post on Speaker Cable for Naim amplifiers in FAQ?  I would do both before experimenting, especially if you have one of the older amplifiers.
