Which cable

Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me which cable I need to connect an Oppo HA 1 headphone amp to connect it to my supernait 2 amplifier. The rest of the system consists of a project extension 10 evolution turntable, ortofon quintet black s mc cartridge naim phono stage, naim nd5 xs streamer, naim unit core with 2 tb ssd, kef r700 speakers. And various focal and foster headphones. My local dealer tells me chord offer one, a twin rca to 5pin din but the two they have sent do not function in the way that is required, various reasons have been given but no luck yet with a solution. Something tells me this is going to get expensive. Any advice gratefully received.

Ray, you need either a tape patch lead - DIN5 (fully wired) - 4 x RCA Phono or, as you'll only be using one of the sets of RCAs,  a custom lead wired DIN5 (TAPE OUT pins) at source to 2 x RCA Phono.

99% of DIN5 - 2 x RCA Phono leads will not be wired for the TAPE OUT pins - hence why they don't function as required.

The "short and dirty" solution is for your dealer to take the DIN5 - 2 RCA phono lead they have supplied you and to get out the soldering iron to swap it over to the Tape Out pins for you.  Make sure it's appropriately marked though, otherwise you could have lots of future frustration trying to get it to work in a normal scenario, or mixing it up with standard DIN-RCA leads.

I suspect the ones they have sent are configured as DIN input to RCA rather than DIN output to RCA. Are you getting no sound ?

Edit - i see Richard has already answered
