Swapping the front panel of an NDX is a relatively (note: relatively) easy task and should be accomplished by your dealer.

Having made somewhat light of the situation, I'm assuming you have a dealer within easy reach and I'm assuming also that Murphy's Law doesn't apply and your original 5 year parts guarantee is still valid.  Move quickly !

Life being what it is, however, your nearest dealer will be the other side of the country and your 5 year warranty will have expired a couple of months ago; in this case you need to be of strong heart and humble telephone manner when you call those lovely guys and girls in the Naim support department.    But rest assured, the problem is relatively (note: relatively) easily fixed.

I've deliberately put a positive spin on your problem OK8888, but in reality, you may find the cost of a new front panel plus the cost of shipping your NDX to a qualified Naim repairer causes you to rethink the severity of the problem and consequently the desirability of effecting a repair.  I don't think I've actually looked at the front panel of my NDS more than a handful of times since the day I installed it... the NAIM app does almost everything I need to do and it's much more readable than the front panel.   The exception is the setup (tools) menu, but if your display is not completely dead, you're still in business.

This probably didn't help much, but I hope I've steered you away from worrying about the brightness of your display and back to listening to what your NDX was designed to do... play music

I posted about the same issue a few months ago.

When I contacted my dealer they told me that the front panel replacement was a back to factory job.

Not another one!!

Same display issue with my UQ a couple weeks of years ago pixels also started to break up.

not good on a premium product

Sorry to hear that. It seems that this can sometimes happen to OLED displays. They do influence the sound rather less than many other types of display though, which is why Naim and others use them.  The recommendation for long life is to never leave the display on permanently and rather set it to come on and off momentarily as and when you touch controls.

Which does beg the question as to why the New Uniti range was released with a screen that we cannot switch off?

Millennials want screens.

Different kind of screen and I'm told that the option to switch off is coming in an upcoming firmware update.

Problem for OP is he is from Shenzhen, China,  so repairs might not be so easy,  but that said if you can't get an electronic component swapped out in Shenzhen  .......       These displays do have a limited life & as Richard says don't leave the display on permanently & be sure to set the display to a suitable time limit;  I have mine set for 30 seconds.   Unfortunately the NDX/ND5xs manual says nothing about caution re limiting the display on time,   so sorry Richard I don't see how you can say its a recommendation.

And further I understand new technology and design approach from Naim has significantly reduced the impact of electrical noise from the new Uniti colour displays rendering the impact to sound minimal to none existent. I’d expect such colour displays to now start to appear on new Classic series models as opposed to the older monochrome LED displays that are used currently (exc HDX)

That’s good news to have the option

I really do hope they include the option to turn the display off - via a time limiter - as we have now

I had this on my UnitiQute. I contacted the importer in my country (USA) and they took very good care of me. Even though my Qute was almost 10 years old from date of manufacture it was less than 3 years old after being purchased as a dealer Demo. They honored the warranty and all I had to do was pay shipping to then.

My situation was complicated by the fact that my dealer had recently been sold to another individual.

I'll throw a side note in here that US distribution had also changed.  So Audio Plus Services fixed the problem under warranty even though the dealer purchased the unit when The Sound Organisation was the importer.  That's great customer service .

Thanks to all good friends, you are very friendly. My dealer in hk told me they can repair it at Guangzhou in China,is cost not a little. I’m not mind the machine to repair,it still works very well.but I’m afraid that if the ndx software update, maybe the good display is required.so if naim officially release the update,i will have to get it to repair.

When you update the firmware, it is not necessary to be able to see the display. The computer will tell you when the process has finished. So don’t worry about that.

A couple of supplementary questions--

1. Can the Nova screen be set to show time and date?

2. What does the screen show when input is TV via S/PDIF?

Thanks Dave

Not tried your question 1. I have optical from my virginmedia box to the Nova optical input, which is digital 4. This can be relabelled, so my digital 4 now says TV. So the screen will show the digital input icon with TV below that, white on a black background.

Had a quick look in the settings page and I do not see a time or date function
