Mu so and AirPlay not working...

Posted by: PBenny1066 on 04 October 2017

Hi all,

i dont often use airplay, but today I wanted to, but realised that it is not working. I have 2 Qbs and one Mu so, but none appears in the list of airplay devices. I have an Apple TV which shows up fine. Everything else on the Mu sos is working perfectly  - streaming Tidal, multi-room, high res, etc. etc.

All Musos hard wired to a switch and then to the router, BT HH5. Naim devices don't show up on airplay on either my iPad or iPhone 6. All devices running latest firmware. App version 5.8 and 5.81. Tried rebooting router, Musos, iPhone etc...

i am fairly sure that they showed up as airplay devices about 6 months ago, but am at a loss to explain why not now.

Any thoughts/ideas from the forum ?

Thanks,

Paul

Err.... call the mu-so helpline? I have two QBs, but don’t know what AirPlay is.

No I have no thoughts and will add my concern here as well. I had airplay properly working on my Muso at the beginning. But already for half year or more it's not working anymore - and I had to defer to Bluetooth connection to make it work, is quite annoying, as I use the Muso every now and then as extension of watching something on my iPad.

Thanks for the replies guys. I now must confess to feeling a complete plonker. It is all working fine. I have only just realised that airplay audio requires a left swipe on the iPhone ! Previously I had only seen "airplay mirroring" on the phone, which is for audiovisual content.

HH - its a moderately useful feature. It allows you to send the audio signal from your phone directly to the Muso, wirelessly. This could be any music stored on the phone, the audio track of say a video, a podcast, a live internet stream, audio of iplayer, etc.....

cheers, paul

I think someone else on this board was wondering about Naim and Roon. As it happens I have Roon for streaming my Devialet Pro so thought I'd check it out with my Muso. The zone was already predetected within Roon itself so I simply activated it and let it play whatever my wife had put on it earlier. It happily continued playing from where she had stopped via AirPlay and to my surprise was happy to also play  my Roon based music through to the Devialet at the same time via Air, the Devialet application.

Roon not only allows the selection of the music it also controls the output volume on the Muso. On the Devialet it will also power on and off the amplifier.
