Layla - Best Pressing?

Posted by: The Strat (Fender) on 27 August 2011

Guys,

I first bought Layla when I was at school but lost it when I lent it to a girlfriend. Her showing me the door was one thing but not returning my records Anyway then bought a CD but the Sony SDM or whatever mastering is appalling. Then last year I bought the Back to Black pressing but it's just not very good - stilted and PB heard it on Saturday and he agreed.

Has anyone got or know of a good pressing that might be available.

Regards,

Strat.

I have not heard it, but the 2011 release, lable umc double vinyl pressing might be worth a look.

Also there are a few copies of the original cheap on amazon uk that might be worth a punt.

If you are talking vinyl original (haven't heard any 180gm pressings if there are any) or if you are talking cd get the Denis Drake mastered original WG version in a fatboy case.

Nigel,

Sorry to hear that.

Its not a cheap album.

Its like so many these days though, where the original still comes out on top.
