Serve/ipad

Do you have the NServe app ? Works really well on the iPad, although can't do everything that is possible with web interface or the desktop client. Incidentally the latter doesn't run on Mac either - a real bug bear of mine which naim really need to fix.
Cheers, Paul
Is you iPad connected to your router via WIFI? I'm not a computer expert, but could it be that there's something wrong with the IP adresses of both devices? Maybe someone else can elaborate...

I had the same problem with ipod touch.
The nserve app shows "discovering" in the display then shows "no server found"
In the settings page of the nserve app turn off the auto connection and type in the IP address of the unitiserve.
The allocated IP address of the unitiserve is shown on the bottom of the page if you open the desktop client.
I am willing to bet your ipad is not on your home network wireless.
It needs to be attached to your network via wireless, and that wireless network for ease of operation needs to be on the same subset as the wired network.
I am assuming your serve is hardwired.
Have done as described but still no joy. Am entering what I believe to be correct address.
I pad works fine via wi fi for any other use. Have cat cable from wi fi hub to the serve, there is some thing I must be missing as when ripping cd,cd info not present on the serve.
Maze,
What are the network settings of the US and what's the address of your router? Does sound like a possible network problem?
Yes you need to configure the Serve with an IP address in the same subnet as your LAN interface on the router (probably what you refer to as the Internet hub address). You will also need to configure the gateway and DNS address which in this case can be the same as the Internet hub address.............. alternatively you could configure the Serve to use DHCP in which case it should pick up all these settings from the Internet hub if its configured correctly
You are suffering an IP address conflict I think. These can be a real pain.
Use the naim IP tool to set the serve to DHCP and see how you get on from there.
Yes the serve has a data base of cds internally I think, or at least the HDX does
Yes I think you are right, how do I put in ip address to serve?
There is the naim IP tool you can download.
I would say though if you are not confident in these types of things, i.e. you don't do it often, then have patience and call your dealer when they are open.
You have been warned, IPs are a complex thing if you don't know what you are doing.
Thanks, no don't really know what I'm doing, have sent message to dealer so hopefully be resolved in time.
I have ripped a few disks and am impressed thus far. Computers are not my forte.I am sure all will come right in time.
Thanks.
No other hifi manufacturer offers this fantastic service.
Wings are not in my favorite 100 but when HiRes downloads were in short supply I got Band On The Run in 24Bit FLAC because there was so little choice. If you particularly like that album (as I once did but no longer do) I recommend you take a punt on the 24Bit.
Hoorah, success. Came home today for another shot at serve set up, rebooted my router went through the set up procedure and hey presto instant unhinered. Tempramental or what?
I feel I just lost two days of my life, but now worth it. Right lets get to ripping.
Glad it's working but something must have caused it. Probably a silly question - you have been rebooting your router regularly when trying to get it up and running?
