Uniti Atom and DSF Files

Posted by: Riccardo Luchetti on 09 October 2017

Hi to everybody.

A little question: i have a Uniti Atom that recognizes DSF files only from an USB HD.

The DSF files aren't recognized from a NAS linked by an ethernet cable.

Any solution?

Thank you

Richard

Sounds like an issue with the upnp server. What is it?

Hi Richard, I think you’ll find your UPnP media server needs to send the DSD files encoded as DoP.. which effectively means the DSD file is encoded into a file construct container used for WAV. Can your UPnP media server handle DSD files?... can you see the DSD files in the Naim app? If not you need to use a different media server package like MinimServer or Asset.

The Naim streamers support 64 and 128.

The Naim streamers support 64 via Ethernet

............   the new Uniti players (the OP question) show support for DSD64 & 128 in the 'Audio Formats' spec, which I assume is via Ethernet (UPnP/NAS),    as in the 'Audio Inputs' section [Optical, Coaxial RCA & HDMI only] it shows RCA up to DoP 64Fs

I've encountered the same issue while trying to play DSF files from my Qnap using MinimServe.

The Atom I had at the time would not play them. While the SuperUniti has no problem at all. Strange...

Never worked out what the issue could be. But I mentioned it to naim support over 3months ago.

My nova plays DSD128 over Wi-fi no issues.
