When I plug my iPhone into the USB socket of my Star and then select the socket, the Star doesn’t see any music to play, any one got any pointers to help me?

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe naim have decided to no longer support this option. The USB ports will only support USB drives now. I think they want you to use the new AirPlay function to play media from your iPhone/iPad.
That’s fine but on the Uniti star support on Naims own web site...
question
“Playing audio via usb connection”
answer
”Uniti Star can play and serve audio files from devices including iPhone, iPod, iPad, Android devices and USB storage drives. Browsing of files located on the USB device can only be seen via the Naim app“.
clearly I am misunderstanding this and I thank you for clearing that up.
Use the App function on your Star to provide feedback to Naim that the web help and actual real world use do not match, you expected this function to work.
I’ve just tried to connect my iPhone via USB and can concur that the Uniti Star doesn’t recognise it and thus is unable to play the music files contained therein. I suppose Naim assume (quite rightly in my case) that people will be using AirPlay ?
My Atom also will not play from iPhone via the front USB socket. It will charge from there, as it did on the old streamers, and USB sticks will play, so it seems a bit odd.
I am reliably informed that Apple have removed licensing support for this in favour of Airplay... therefore they won’t play through the USB and Naim will, eventually, update their support pages to reflect this I guess.

Fair enough, and it doesn't really make much sense to have an iPhone constrained by a wired connection in any case. I was just messing around with the idea to see if wired sounded better than wireless.

Hi,
USB support for iPhone / iPod / iPad is no longer a part of Apples certification - it's not a case of us having removed it from the product so that we can do AirPlay, it's a case of the certification requirements from Apple change and evolve over time and we have to comply with whatever the cerfication requirments are at the time when a new product is developed.
I had this raised to me last week and did flag to teh web team that this information was up there and incorrect so it should be being changed...
Cheers
Phil
Please understand I have not accused Naim, I have stated tha Apple removed licensing for this.
