It should work automatically- for instance, when playing back a stored track, it will display the album art “full screen”, but as you approach it, the album art will “shrink” and additional information will be displayed underneath (eg song title, artist, format)

Yes it does thank you... I thought the display would shut off and come back to life on approach... my bad...

I quite like the way it works, I’m currently streaming an Internet radio station through my Nova which I picked up yesterday in order to run it and the (ex-dem) PMCs in. When I wander past the room and think “that sounds familiar”, it’s quite nice to be able to pop in, wave my hand at the screen and see what the song is. Whether it’ll matter when I’m streaming from NAS or Tidal IMwait to see.
