Radio Paradise flac streaming

Posted by: Donkeyhaute on 18 October 2017

Hello! Hello! etc.

I've just noticed that the updated RP app now supports flac streaming. I have this app on various i-Devices, and an Apple TV, connected to an SU via optical. Obviously the 320kbps stream is native to Naim streamers via iRadio.

Can anyone advise on the easiest way of getting the RP flac files onto my SU.

There's an exotic muffin in it for the winner.

For the losers, endless torment punctuated by spontaneity hour where you all go first.

Yeah, I got the same as ADM95, on a DS215J running a recent DSM version (perhaps not this week's, but if not, then the most recent one before that). So the Perl package is the most recent available (5.24.0-0070).

Yes, the "App"->"Radio Paradise" in LMS is the way I am using. I really wonder why you have this problem with the missing SSL package and why I do not. Maybe the RP URL that the app uses did change from http to https in the meantime? But AFAIR you cannot configure the RP-plugin, can you? I am not sure if I manage to look for it today, if I can find some hints in my logfiles or google. But I hope to find some time the next days.

I’ve been following this with interest so I went ahead and installed LMS on my Synology 212 Nas and got as far as the Plug-in stage.  I can see the UPnP/DNLA Media Interface and that installed I think, I can see the server on my Naim ND5XS, I cannot however see any mention of Radio Paradise or Qobus in the list of available Plug-ins

Sharney, you'll need to add the repository addresses for the RP app and the upnp bridge manually via the LMS plugin settings page. I'm not at my computer at the moment and off the top of my head I can't remember where I got them, but perhaps someone else (or Google) can.

Thank you Dave, very much appreciated I’ll take a look.

I had nothing special to do to add repositories. I think the 3rd party plugins got available automatically because I did log into mysqueezebox.com. There is a tab "mysqueezebox.com" in the settings. You can log in there. Also there is a select box that is set here to "Enabled, keep player settings in sync". I do not know what this is good for.

I definitely have the IO::Socket::SSL package installed in my perl version. My system:
DS213+
DSM 6.1.4-15217
perl 5.24.0-0070
LSM 7.9.1-166

I did log into my NAS via ssh and checked the existence of the perl module:
perl -MIO::Socket::SSL
print $IO::Socket::SSL::VERSION, "\n";
2.037

(You have to press ctrl+d after the "print" line to execute the command.)

Maybe this is the case because I have activated https for my NAS web UI? (Network -> DSM settings) (Translated by me from the German UI)

I do not have any time more now. Maybe you can find something in the web with these keywords:
"enable mysqueezebox.com_3rd party plugins"

How strange.  I had to enter the repository URLs (now that I'm at the computer I can see it was Michael's Slim Stuff for the RP plugin and Philippe's LMS Plugins for the upnp bridge, both found after a bit of googling).  Until I did so, nothing about Radio Paradise or UPnP bridges appeared in the plugins list.  I'd also logged in via the mysqueezebox tab.

FWIW I just tried turning on automatic redirection to https in the Network>DSM settings page (and after it'd restarted, and Safari had had a heart attack), restarted LMS, and...  No difference.  The RP plugin still asks for the socket business.  So I turned https redirection back off again, to save Safari any further trauma.  And then gave up again.

The moral of the story seems to be that you might get lucky, but if you don't, be prepared for some IT guy stuff.

No joy with getting this working yet via my Synology NAS, however, I have managed to install latest Beta version of LMS on my mac mini, and added in the RP App + UPNP bridge plug-ins... and voila! I can select streamer via LMS web interface and stream RP in Flac. First impressions v.good

Aha, at least there's one more of us able to take advantage one way or another then.

Perhaps the plugin versions from the developer‘s repository differ? You should try the official 3rd party plugin repository. The two plugins got included there after they became stable enough. Unfortunately I could not find the URL yesterday.

Regarding the ssl perl module: maybe it depends on the CPU architecture if synology includes it or not? Or it depends on the country where you live? In former times th USA had some strange rules for strong encryption AFAIK.

I will recieve a new NAS soon and will install LSM again. I will report if it works on this.

Today my new DS418play has arrived. I am still setting it up. But the first test was if perl offers the IO::Socket::SSL package. And yes, it does. I really would like to know why some NAS do and others don't!?

Possibly it is something to do with geography, and for some reason the UK is different (the UK being different for no sensible reason is not all that surprising nowadays).

Ah well, not the end of the world.
