Volume control Naim app android
Posted by: Fenderbassplayer on 21 October 2017
In the Naim app on my iPad there is an option to show the volume control on the lower ‘now playing’ bar but this option does not seem to exist with the Android version on my Samsung Galaxy S8. I’m considering buying a Samsung tablet and would not like to lose that function. Is this option also missing on the android tablet version?
Just switched from a Samsung tablet to a IPad the volume control was on both my Samsung Tab S and Samsung S7 phone you have to go into the app settings to configure.
Yep - volume control on the 'now playing' bar on my Lenovo. Works fine.
As you have an NDX, you are presumably using System Automation, and have a +/- volume controller. Naim removed this from the bottom bar as they felt there wasn't enough room for it on small screen devices, so unfortunately, you'll have to do without.

Using an NDX with system automation just checked on my Samsung S7 phone the volume control is still there ?

It was removed from the iPhone app - maybe there is some inconsistency between different Android versions?

Strange indeed.
The only Android device I have is a Sony ZX2 Walkman, which has quite a small screen, but will run the Naim app. It doesn't show the 'Bottom bar volume control' option (in Other Settings) , and neither does my iPhone 6. My iPad Mini does have it. This was discussed during beta testing, and Naim decided to remove it from the iPhone due to lack of space. I would have preferred them to rearrange the layout a little to accommodate it, but there you go!
[@mention:49436537387864621] is your S7 on an up to date app version? Maybe the bottom bar slipped through the net and made it onto the S7!
I would assume that any tablet would have the option, but maybe another Android user who has one could check this for the OP before he parts with any money?

Just reinstalled the app off the NAIM website volume bar all present and correct.
Ok looks like I can buy the Samsung tablet no worries. Indeed I use system automation and would n’t want to be without the volume on the bottom bar

Oh, I do hope that facilities aren't removed from all phone versions because of limitations of small iPhones.
My (android) phone has a nearly 6 inch screen, and I'd much rather have options to decide for myself what fits on the screen than lose functionality because of posh people with tiny phones (slight exaggeration for effect!).

The +/- buttons were scrunched right into the corner of the screen when they had them on the iPhone, so they were a bit too small. This is one of several reasons why I think the whole app could do with a redesigned screen layout from scratch, having been chopped and changed quite a bit since it’s release. I do have an iPad too, but I prefer to use my phone - and I don’t want a bigger one!
