NaimNet system

Posted by: Clive Adamson on 23 October 2017

I have a multi room NaimNet system with a NNP01 room amp for the main room and NNP03 amps for other rooms with multi sources including a HDX, LP12 turntable and SKy box for TV sound. This is controlled by the iLinx app on an iPhone and iPad. Withe the latest version of IOS however, ILinx no longer works as it does not seem to have been upgraded for some time and certainly not for the new IOS. Is there any other way of controlling the system that works pending upgrading to a Unite driven system?

Clive, your best bet is to speak to Phil at Naim who should be able to advise.  I'll flag up this thread for him to take a look.

Hi Clive,

The iLinX app was developed by a third party and is no longer supported under current iOS - at this time I do not know whether the iLinX application will be updated by them (or A.N.Other developer) to support current iOS.

There is a Flash web interface for NetStreams / StreamNet that can be accessed by pointing a flash-capable web browser at the IP address of any of the amplifiers.

Hi Phil

Thanks. Am I right in thinking that Apple Safari wont work for this?

I don't have a Mac handy to try but I believe that Apple droped support for the Flash plugin - I don't know whether the OSX version of Chrome or Firefox would work.

Cheers

I have found found  a flash enabled browser that works on iPad. I am being a bit dense but could you advise on how to find IP address of the NaimNet amp.

many thanks

Hi Clive,

If your amp has a hostname, it can be reached at hostname.local on the web browser, foregoing the need for the IP address lookup. Assuming this is all apple stuff.  You can bookmark that.

If your amp is using DHCP to acquire an IP address, the address is likely to change every once in a while dependent on the DHCP "lease" time.  You will do well to set up a permanent reservation on your DHCP router for the amp, so it always uses the same IP address. You will need it's MAC address to do this.  It's usually on the box, on a label.  You then go into the router administrative console and under the DHCP section, it will allow DHCP reservations to be set up.

To find ip addresses ( and MAC addresses ), on a MAC, open Airport utility, click on the network router/access point(s), you will see 'wireless clients', hover over each client, and their MAC and IP addresses are shown.

On the iPad, the airport utility doesn't show this information, so you will need a network scanner app installed.

Sorry, I sounded a bit too authoritative there.  I should of said It could likely be reached at hostname.local.  I have no hands on experience with your amp.  my apologies.
