Old chestnut. Nac 202. Power with flatcap or a nap 200?

Posted by: Bruss on 23 October 2017

I'm replacing a flatcap, nac 112, nap 150 all 3 box fronts, with a nac 202 plus napsc, and a nap 200.

2 questions.

Can I use the flatcap to power the 202 in the same way I do the 112? I see no reason why not.

Is there any advantage to doing so, over using the 200 to power the 202?

Thanks

The answer may depend on which 200 you have. If it's new, it will be a 200DR, and the DR specification applies to the preamp PSU, so this will sound better than, or at least different to, the old 200.

Apologies re the rules.

Unfortunately its an older fc2, not even an x to its name.

Agree with everyone else here - I've owned all these units and also think Richard Dane mentioned the (old) 200 was equivalent to a flatcap as a preamp supply. Flatcap is therefore pointless in this setup. 202/200 with napsc is a very good combo, of course better still if the 200 is the newer DR.

After I traded my 112/150 in, I found the FC2X came in handy when a Headline arrived.
