555ps upgrade to555ps dr

Hi I run my current NDS with a reasonably elderly 555ps .... it sounds fantastic .....  however, has anybody here had the experience of upgrading to a 555dr in the context of it supplying an NDS.... is there a substantive improvement?

Yes.

Is this one of the disputed upgrades, though?  I have the same conundrum, I guess - powering my nds by a non-dr 555. Not really on my radar to dr at the moment but I will need to decide at some point whether or not to do

Hi .... I have experience big improvements with Naim DR amps .... looking at Naims DR detail info .... it should reduce the noise floor and improve detail retrieval ..... I just wondered what the consensus was with real world users....in the context of NDS.

I can’t report on the upgrade as I have only ever had a 555DR on my NDS, but what I can say is that the NDS/555DR is sublime. Detailed, revealing and with plenty of pace and drive.

I had my NDS running with an early 555PS. I didn't see a need to upgrade. It didn't seem justified on either cost or hassle grounds.

Then I had a chance to sample one and it became the first thing on the to do list. The NDS/555PS is a wonderful source. If you never let it near a 555PS-DR you'll still have what is presently one of the best sources in the world that you can buy for any money. It's not so much what the DR brings, as what it doesn't. A layer you didn't know was there, vanishes, with laugh out loud results. Well, for me at least.

As if my experience wasn't costly enough, I subsequently allowed myself to be walked into auditioning a second 555PS on the NDS. Whoops!

Speaking of costly. A few of us, including me (thanks to advice received here) managed to secure a PX on a new 555PS-DR which didn't come out massively more than having the old one upgraded. Maybe worth a conversation with a dealer or three?
