Roon and Uniticore

Can somebody advise the path name to add a Uniticore as a network share in Roon?
ChrisSU posted:David O'Higgins posted:Meantime, can someone please post the correct (or an example of one which works) connection path for a Linux Roon Core connection to a Uniticore, preferably not using IP addresses, but anything usable considered! It is unacceptably difficult to do these simple things!
Did you try doing what I mentioned in my first post above?
Sorry Chrissu, but I am trying to advise someone else, and without access to his network etc. His Roon Core is running on a sonicorbiter i5 running Linux. He just needs to know how to
point the sonicorbiter to his Uniticore by entering a path in the box. Should look something like Smb:// etc etc? Can it be that difficult?

David, what I described above showed the smb. It could hardly have been simpler.

I have been patiently awaiting promised updates.
I havent started on the ripping of my collection, because I hoped that Core would do a better job than HDX.
Hi Jon, did you consider any of the offerings from Innuos before getting the Core.
They do let you check and modify metadata for classical cds before ripping and as you probably know also stream internet radio, Qobuz and Spotify.
innuos zenith, melco or antipodes, 3 different choices from the core. But difficult to know which one works best with naim ( ndx , nds in upnp mode).....

Well maybe, but can you complete the path please smb://

I could tell you the path for my folders, but I can't tell you what anyone else's would be.
David
The UnitiCore has a network identity that is something like uniticore12345 where 12345 depends on the unit. You can get the number for yours from "About" in the Core page of the app and it also shows up in the name of the room in the app if you haven't changed it to something else.
But you may find that the Core won't let you connect like this because of something Naim did in the last firmware update. My mapped downloads folder didn't work after the update and I know a couple of other Core users who have the same problem.
So overall I suggest that you give Phil Harris a call at Naim support and discuss it with him. If nothing else, he will be able to talk you through what the path should be.

Cos SMB browsing is SOOOOOO difficult... not.
It's not browsing for it Jon, it's the folder declined the connection when you get there. Curiously you can still connect to the downloads folder using the IP address and windows explorer.

Strange, I can still access the 'Downloads' folder...

As a drive mapped in windows?

sorry, no ... I've always typed in the IP address ... e.g. \\192.168.2.178

Yes that still works, as I mentioned to Jon. Mapping it saved having to find out what IP address it currently has and the folder just appears as another drive in windows explorer. That worked fine until firmware version 1.5. I doubt this was an intentional change, so I'm hoping Naim will back out of whatever they did!

OK, now that the rest of the Uniti family has been released, I really hope Naim will put some effort in fixing the issues with the Uniti Core...
At the moment, I believe that a separate NAS with e.g. Minimserver installed provides me much more flexiblity ...

I’d seriously get a life. I love my Core but my 13 year old daughter with Crohn’s who’s up to her eyes in immunomodulation and a real fighter puts this tosh into a totally different context.
I'm sure all of us here would agree with you and wish you, your daughter and the rest of your family the very best for a good outcome. (I also have young family serious medical conditions in my personal experience, so this isn't a hollow comment. Music with or without Naim helps, but it isn't enough or anything like the most important thing.)

It’s well worth your daughter joining Crohn’s & Colitis UK if she isn’t a member. It’s really helpful and supportive and it can be reassuring to hear of and be able to contact others in the same boat. I’ve had Colitis for years, but nowhere near as bad as your daughter, and I know how hard it can be as an adult, let alone a child, who faces the other challenges of her age at the same time. She must be really brave, and I wish her well.

Hi David,
Did you get a satisfcatory resolution to your question?
I have just finished building my Roon Optimised Core Kit - and needed to add my UnitiCore
I added a folder \\uniticore\123456\downloads and \\uniticore\123456\music - where 123456 is the UnitiCore's serial number.
Roon is now importing the tracks.
