New NAIM convert here....

Wow!

Well kind of!

I purchased a new supernait 2 about a month ago. Funny thing is this is not my first Naim gear, I actually bought a 2nd hand Naim CD player about 6 years ago and was impressed enough to start looking for a Naim amp, but I got talked into ditching the Naim CD player and buying a PS Audio Perfect Wave DAC which I did and still have it happily and it pairs really well with the Supernait 2 I must say.

But after quite a few changes in equipment over the last 12 months I was still searching for that something and had the opportunity to get a home demo for 4-5 days with the Supernait 2.

It’s now the heart and should of my Hi Fi setup and of all the amps I auditioned, the Supernait 2 is the one that made me want to listen to my whole library of songs all over again.

It definitely has PRaT which I expected and given I listen to rock and metal a lot its brilliant with those genres, but what I didn’t expect was the emotional connection to the music. Especially on quieter, orchestral pieces - it can do subtle really well and really and I didn’t expect that.

A mate came over for a listen in the really days while it was stil breaking in (and it is still is I guess) and said it sounded ‘organic’ which I agreed with, but for me when I listen to songs that I know so well, everything just sounds... right!

Sure it doesn’t do the sound staging that some amps do but man oh man I just have not enjoyed listening to music this much for a looooong time.

Congrats on the new amp,I too used to have a SN2,I started with a Unitiqute 2,moved up to the SN2,and I now have moved up to the 272/250.Each step has been a significant upgrade for sure, the SN2 is really really good, like you said, especially with rock/metal...enjoy!

The SN (in my case version 1) got my hooked too. It was and is the large scale of dynamics what convinced me.

Superb integrated.   Both the SN and XS are class leaders. Enjoy your music.

Greetings.  It's always nice to hear from a happy new SN2 owner, it is a great piece of kit.  I've had mine a little over two years, and have never enjoyed music more, or so much of it.  It is very addictive even after 2 years.

I had similar observations from early listening, and likewise was surprised by how engaging and enjoyable music became, and also a similar thought on quieter music.  I was listening to Anne Bisson - Blue Mind when I noticed the way that a voice could just come out of nowhere, from complete silence, which led to me wonder what was there before.  I found that fascinating.

Cheers everyone. I'm hoping to avoid being tempted by the Naim upgrade path that is oft referred to as a rabbit hole lol and just enjoy what I have for a long time to come!

The potentially affordable upgrade that my Naim dealer has offered a home trial on is the NACA 5 speaker cable. I currently have QED Genesis Silver spiral so I'll see how that goes. Probably wont get to do that for a month or so.

Glad you are enjoying your SN2 HBTN, welcome to the SN2 gang!

Also had mine for a couple of years and very happy with it, a versatile piece of kit for sure.

Well worth giving the NAC A5 a go, a really good cable for Naim amps. Enjoy, and beware of Super Lumina temptation at some point in the future :-)

In my experience, sound staging with NAIM gear is largely down to the choice of speakers.

Welcome to the cult. Pick up your cross, line on the left...

Upgrade itch can be controled well. Buy now and then a small thing - like the A5 cable, buy much music. Play a bit with positioning etc ...

however ... spirit is willing but flesh weak ...
