272/555DR vs. NDX/555DR/282

Hello, I'm quite new to the forum and would like to know if anyone of you has ever compared a 272/555DR with NDX/XPSDR/282 or NDS/555DR/282 yet?

I'm owning a 272/555DR/250DR and thinking about my next step.

For me it's also quite interesting to follow the conversations about 272/300DR as my knowledge was source first.

I really like the 272 with all it's features and since upgrading with a 555DR I'm enjoying it even more. But I know what NAIM is capable of so I'm thinking about upgrading to a NDX/NDS (used) which means I need a preamp. The 252/552 is too expensive for me at the moment in combination with an NDS and maybe SL interconnects... I'm curious about your experiences. Of course I will try to make an appointment with a dealer soonish.

Why not wait and see when an upgrade appears either to the streamers or the 372 or  572. If I were to go out and spend money I would consider a 300, and wait and see what happens in the next year or 2.

i have a 282/Hicap/250.2 -- fronted digitally by a Hugo 2 -- and have heard the 272/250DR combo in all its power supply guises. with that out of the way, i can offer the following utterly unhelpful comment: it's really a matter of which flavor you like.

the darker, more full-bodied sound i get at home is the winner for me -- but you may find it boring and tubby-sounding.

you gotta head down to your dealer and listen to both, i'm afraid.

Talking about a '372' -I've had a conversation not to long ago about future NAIM streaming products with a NAIM dealer working and knowing the brand for many decades and he said from what he has heard it might take quite a while until new products will be released as the Uniti series claimed most of their capacity.

Obviously nobody outside Naim really know, but as I understand it manufacturing is not the issue. If I understand it correctly there is a new manufacturing line for Uniti like there is for statement, and the iway the new setup works should easily be copied to a new production of units. From what we know about the terrible delay on the Unitis it is not because of the hardware, but because of problems with software certification. This probably means Spotify, tidal, Cromecast and Airplay. I am sure lessons has been learned at Naim in the last 12 months. Also looking at the software updates to the new platform, releasing Roon certification less than 2 months after the first units shipped seems to be a good sign for future developments. I am sure that one of the big problems in the future is supporting 2 totally different platfforms at the same time and not developing new hardware for the new platform.
