Problem with Mu-So and Naim app

Posted by: MartinBrookes on 11 November 2017

My partner has a new Mu-So and has added a Mu-So QB. The connections with the Mu-So have been intermittent, but so far ok. The addition of the QB has caused a lot of problems though. The most important of these is an inability to join the two devices. The Naim website says you need to "touch the app's multiroom icon (in the bottom right-hand corner of the app display)". Only, it isn't there - no multiroom icon appears in the app (on the ipad version - the iphone has been problematic so far and is not being used).

May I ask, please, what are we doing wrong? Where is the multiroom icon on the app?! Are we along in having these problems?

Thanks for any advice and help.

The multiroom icon is in the right hand side of the Now Playing screen.

So you start the music playing on the first unit, tap on the bottom of the screen in the app and you get a new screen with artwork, volume control etc and in the bottom right hand corner the icon you want. You tap that, select the other unit and that's it.

You may not have enabled the multiroom input, via input settings on the app.

Thanks David. That icon doesn't appear - there is nothing in the bottom right corner.  I have tried inserting a screenshot here but can't work out how (the insert/edit image doesn't seem to give me an option to insert a file).

Hungryhalibut, thanks for the reply. I have checked and multiroom is enabled.

David, HH, doesn’t this has something to do with the problems Naim is currently facing regarding Multiroom? I am still not able to start multiroom from my Atom to the mu-so Qb, but not the other way around.

No I don't think so because Muso and Qb multiroom works fine. It's the new Unitis that make the problem.

Martin you are looking at the right screen? Sorry to doubt you but just in case, you select an album or an iradio station, you now get a screen which shows what you have selected. If you go to the bottom of that screen and tap on the bottom bar, a further screen, the Now Playing screen appears and the multiroom icon is in the bottom right hand corner. It's not there if you are not playing anything or if you are playing an analogue input for example.

Thanks for the reply, and don't worry about doubting me - I doubt myself quite often!

I don't have that set of boxes in the bottom right of the screen on the ipad app - either using iradio or playing from Spotify. If I could work out how to attach a picture, I would show you. (This forum seems to restrict me to posting images from websites rather than files from my hard drive.)

Yes you have to put the image into a hosting service and copy the link into your posting. It's a bit of a pain the first time you do it but not too bad after that.

i'm not sure what to suggest next. Let's see if others come up with suggestions otherwise I think you may have to call Naim on Monday and ask for advice. But if I think of anything I'll come back here.

On Kloit10's point, I think I am right that a muso and a Qb can multiroom with the present firmware. HH has two Qbs so he can probably confirm that one can be the master and the other the slave. HH?

Here is an image (I hope), showing nothing in the bottom right.

I think you have to embed the link rather than just paste it, but anyway I have looked at the image and yes you are of course right. You are on the correct screen and it's not there! Let's see what @HungryHalibut says when he sees my earlier question...

I suspect it’s that you cannot multiroom a Bluetooth input. Try upnp or iRadio.

Thanks both.

We have tried iradio, and get the same - no multiroom option in the "currently playing" screen.

We have not tried upnp, but will do so today.
