Have NDX - switch - modem - router
There used to be a diagram on here, but old post photos have disappeared.
I am in the process of reconfiguring my study, and have forgotton connection order, don't think I have it all connected properly
Has anyone got a copy of the diagram which was on here please?
Thank you
I guess this is the one, If you need more I have them all
Hi Mike
Thanks so much for speedy reply, I thought it was you who originally posted this helpful document
I don't seem to be as dozy as I thought, I do seem to have connected as per diagram
I am trying to re-scan Minimserver after ripping a new CD, and I keep getting error stating ip address refuses to connect?
It states an ip address ending 86 BUT the ip address on the Naim app according to my android pad ends 87 , so really not sure how to fix issue, apart from trying to reload everyhting?
Thanks
Al
Hi Al, No probs, it was lucky I checked my mail as I’m travelling today. I can’t really help you too much with your problem as my plane is about to board. I could suggest turning it all off & on again, but I don’t think that’ll help much. But Its not the app IP address in the app you need, I suspect it’s looking for the NAS (Minim) address. You need someone to chip in with Minim & Android plus IT expertise by the sound it.
can you see the tree diagram on your computer? and if so is the server showing in green? if yes just check when ripping the CD the address is correct -
sorry I dont use Minim, but hope this helps
Check that the NDX & NAS both use DHCP addressing rather than fixed (static) addressing.
Turn everything off.
Turn them on in this order, allowing each to fully power up before switching on the next...
1. switch
2. modem/router
3. NAS drive
4. NDX
The theory here is that the switch does nothing but connect stuff, so needs to be on at the start. The router allocates IP addresses using DHCP in the router, so this needs to be running before you turn anything else on. The NAS drive needs to be up & running with an address allocated by the router before you turn on the NDX, so that the NAS is visible to the NDX as soon as it goes looking at startup. Finally the NDX as it powers up will get an IP address from the router then go looking for sources (the NAS) which is sitting there on the network ready.
All very simple really but if you do this in the wrong order it can totally mess the whole process up (as you may have already discovered).
Whoops, just noticed the ipad/phone... turn this on last of all... the router will allocate an IP address & everything (i.e. the NDX) will be ready to be accesses by the Naim app.
Thats good to know! Thanks for posting!
Hi RJ
Thanks for your detailed reply
This perhaps makes some sense, as I had the power switched off and I believe a couple of items were still on when this took place i.e. the NAS. I will try what you suggest.
So far I have uninstalled Minimserver & re-downloaded it and it will just not install ?!
This is what I am getting ? - I am trying to get support, waiting for a registration eMail so I can post my question
It is all getting annoying, as I was going to do some listening !

I am not sure what you mean , where does one find a "tree diagram" on ones computer ?
I can rip the Cds okay, and they are on the NAS - just cannot download Minimserver after uninstalling it, just about to try RJs suggestion, power it all down and start again !?
Thanks
