How to transcode from Flac to Wav on Unitiserve?
Posted by: CSI_Basel on 15 November 2017
I have quite a few albums in the downloads folder in the US in flac format
How can I get the US to transcode to wav as it plays the album?
Can i do it in the n-serve app?
Cheers.
You can do it in the N-Serve for Mac app, not the iOS app. Or the DTC on Windows. I’m not at home, so I can’t remember the exact setting you need, but I’m sure someone will be able to tell you.
Needs to be done via the web-based interface.
Changing the ripping forrmat from WAV to FLAC will start the transcode process.
Sorry - wrong answer above...
Setting is via a PC or MAC based proprietary software. It's burried in the maintenance section.
Cannot be done via nServe app for OS.
Are you Mac or Windows?
I'm Windows. I've got the DTC client on my laptop. I'll look for the setting.
Thanks Adam and Chris for replying!
Typing from memory now
It should be in the maintenance (or something symilar). Look for a long list on the right hand side and keep scrolling.
You're looking for a section where is says how various types of files are being played back. Next to it you will see NATIVE or TRANSCODE. You need to change it for each type of files that you want transcoded.
Correction to my post above:
Maintenance > UPnP settings > Transcode Media Types > True or False
False = no transcoding is applied, True means - transcoding will be applied.

On Windows, the DTC probably does it in a completely different way!

It's close enough from what I remember - the section names are identical, graphics is more clumsy though
Is there a possibility to transcode flac to wav on Jriver server application as I did on Assett media server?, for those who use Jriver
I know this is possible with Minimserver, sorry that I can't be of any assistance ...

Maybe worth opening a separate thread for this, as there are a few jRiver users here, but they may not be interested in a Unitiserve issue.
I think there used to be an "Encoder: Uncompressed" option in the J River server/client settings, but I do not see that anymore (MC rev 23).
