Sunday Afternoon Mains?

Posted by: GraemeH on 19 November 2017

Unless something magical just happened to my (already magical) Tablette 10’s my 272/250DR sounds superb this afternoon. I swear if I were blindfold and told an XPSDR had been added I’d believe it.

Is Sunday afternoon quiet on the grid? Would that account for the lovely sounds I’m experiencing?

This also happens to me periodically where my system sounds particularly good one day and not so good on another day. No common thread. I personally think its all in the state of mind. What source were you listening to?

NAS to 272/250DR.

The only thing I changed last week was to replace cat5/6 leads with AQ Cinnamons but I’m not hanging what I’m hearing on those.  I guess it could be an accumulation of small differences; cleaner mains, cables & Tabs opening up...and a relaxed state of mind.

After a summers worth of air allergens collecting along with dust behind radiators, when the autumn chill sets in and everyone turns on the heating for the first time since late spring.      Everyone gets a cold..

That must have been a few weeks back now and you've probably got over it by now.  Maybe your just hearing better than you did a little while back.

Its not a state of mind at all! We all  experience it at times and not just on Sunday afternoons. I have noticed for years particularly later in the evening when most folk are switching off and going to bed. Oh and this has been mentioned many times before on this and other forums. As to me I heard little if anything different so for me there is nothing improved this afternoon but there again I live in a small village with almost no industry for miles so my mains is usually quite stable or at least it has been since I moved to my present home and the only major electronic incident was when a horse in the field I back onto decided to scratch an itch on a pole support wire making the wires shake so violently one snapped and electrocuted the horse, now that was very audible , no sound at all - power cut!

Oh and horse died!

Now I bet no one saw that coming. You just never know where a thread will lead.

I too have experienced the Sunday afternoon uplift and at other times too. I believe it is more than just mood and have put it down to times when the mains is particularly clean. But who really knows.

I should also add that my next door neighbour who has had horses all her life and that hers had only just died a few weeks before told me today that she still feels traumatised about seeing the horse led dead but can you believe that it nearly happened again earlier this year only this time the horses were all ok but now they have fenced off the offending cable so it can't happen again.
