Smart Home Security (Social)

Ok after a daytime burglary we looked into some quick but smart security upgrades - focus here is on the tech not the door/window upgrades (but did them also).

Anyway wanted thoughts on what others have or are thinking of doing, but to share where i ended up, note the focus for me was elderly parents at home and also security peace of mind, but ease of install was a must (DIY - Ring Pro was a nightmare to install).

Outdoor cameras = Netgear Arlo Pro 2 x2, motion and zone detection with alerts - £490

Front Door - Ring Pro, motion and zone detection with alerts - £230

Internal = Amazon Echo, with drop in and also video calling - £199

My biggest surprise and delight is not the security aspect, but actually the social aspect, but i guess my Mum sometimes see's it verging on big brother snooping, but its really heartening to be able to check around the outside and inside of the house and also communicate with her, but also answer the door for her whereveer i am (well assuming 4G or WIFI)

I know some will say why not just use WhatsApp video call or Facetime, will tried all that unsuccessfully, but the Amazon Echo Show, my Mum can just say call so and so (needs household setup) and voila done, Then Alexa show me the front door (within 3 secs the Ring footage is live on the screen, Alex show me the front (or rear) camera and again within seconds live feed is on. 

Black friday looming looking for some deals on plugs and lights to add to the setup.
