There was today a demo at my dealer around the room acoustic products of Acustica Applicata. It was quite an experience. A couple of cylinders with some possibilities to adapt which have an influence on how the music flows in a room. 

The demo was executed with the new Uniti Nova and some entry speakers of Focal. Forgot the name. We started with nothing and then constantly adapted the room with adding this cylindrical components and by adapting the settings of these components. The effect was a considerable improvement of the room acoustics. Making a kind of entry level system sounding much more mature than one could have expected. With the ability to adapt the way the energy was flowing it gave a real sense of tuning the musical experiences. In the pictures you will see the plexiglas cylinders....

Furthermore I was blown away about the effect of the best Ethernet cables on the market. Used was a Unitiserve connected to a Linn Streamer. First the audioquest diamond, followed by the ChordMusic cable. The ChordMusic cable brought the music overall to a complete different level, however at a stunning price as well. I thought I was in good shape with my Vodka Cable........, I couldn’t be more wrong....

The speakers look like Kanta 2s to me, Bert. I had a demo of them earlier in the week on the end of system similar to mine. They were good with a deep reach down.  At the end of the demo I also heard them on the end of an Atom. Gracious, that thing has some balls!     

The demos of today again showed what an exiting hobby we have and how many dimensions it has to improve the sound.... please feel free to publish other experiences. I am looking forward to some teasing new experiences.

Hi yes, thanks for helping me. And indeed they sound quite interesting and are very good match for the Unity series. I am not a Focal speaker fan, however these speakers are fun and and a good price point . Those in the market at the pricepoint should have a listen.

Interested to hear your comments, Bert. Particularly so regarding the ChordMusic streaming cable, which, putting its price to one side for a moment, I have to agree takes things to a whole new level.

Would be interested to know which Linn streamer was used in the dem - when I first heard the new Katalyst KDS, I got the impression that the designers had been listening to ChordMusic as it embraced some of the same characteristics.

I had just a short time with it - but I think it was the new Katalyst KDS.....

I cannot see plonking cylinders around the lounge would go down well with the management??

Me too, unless you can fill with water and have a few goldfish swimming around. Probably cuts down on the moving around the room though.

If anyone around London or the South-East is free(?) Focal will be presenting the new Utopia Evo & Kanta speakers at KJ West One, near Bond St later this week.

They'll be a demonstration of the Maestro Utopia Evo & Kanta No. 2 speakers paired with Naim's Statement electronics. Should be interesting.

If you attend. Be interested in your thoughts on the updates to the Maestro Utopia Evos, which are said to have used developments of Sopra line tech.

Heard them recently at the Warsaw’s AudioShow - disaster.

Evo’s were brand new, fresh from their boxes, room acoustics was dire. Not even a full Statement + NDS + 555PSDR and Core could salvage this demo.

I think the new Polish distributor, who took over this year, should really draw some hard conclusions from this botched job.
