Blimey - Vinyl

Invested in the Vetere PSU for the Xerxes with top Pulse umbilical wire.
As much I enjoy my CDS3 it has never been able to match what the Roksan does for soundstage, fluidity and involvement but now it’s just worlds apart.

Lindsay
Congrats Lindsay. The best kept secret in hi-fi seems to be leaking out more and more of late.
Why 'tis still apparently beyond the ability of man to make a better/more organic sound with 'the digitals' as opposed to dragging a piece of sharpened carbon through a plastic rut, even Michael Fremer doesn't know, so I guess we just have to accept the apparent magic (majik in my case) and enjoy it.
John.
Lindsay, my vinyl days are behind me but I find it interesting that a power supply upgrade can have such a profound effect on both a digital source (DAC/CD/Streamer) and analogue components (pre amps/power amps/TTs).
I guess we shouldn't be surprised as Naim have always espoused the importance and significance of the unassuming PS.
I am still dumbfounded by the effect the 555 DR has had on my NDS.
Enjoy the power!
Blimey!

You shouldn't be really. What you're actually listening to is the signal produced by the power supply, modulated by some transistors.

Not quite right... that view completely ignores the amp's PSRR (Power Supply Rejection Ratio).

Yeah, that's what I was gonna say.
Blimey this is getting technical
Great stuff Lindsay and delighted that it’s settling down.
I’m in a similar place to you when it comes to vinyl versus a top notch digital source. As J.N. says, that’s just daft but it’s true.
Best regards, FT
Blimey, the word blimey seems to be quite popular these days on the forum ????
Ian.
Can't believe we've not had a "Core Blimey" Thread
The sound of vinyl is akin the warmth you get sitting next to a wood-fired hearth. The sound of digital is like sitting next to an electric heater. Both can produce the same BTUs, but which warms you more to the core? Granted, with the hearth you've got to start the fire, poke at it now and then, and throw on an occasional log. The electric heater simply runs as expected at the push of a button and appears the practical choice based strictly on convenience. Still, there are some unmeasurable/intrinsic factors favoring the vinyl side. The man that cuts his own firewood warms himself twice. A similar phenomenon may exist for the custodianship of vinyl.
The sound I get with a humble Chordmojo and entry level vertere interconnects made me forget about Vinyl
but glad you’re enjoying it
stick a DFI cable from vertere on your CDS 3 and then you’ll be mighty glad with your digital
For me 2 of the best hi fi components are Chord dac and vertere cables !

I wouldn’t say the sound I get from my TT is necessarily warmer in fact in many ways it’s more dynamic but just more fluid.
Analogue - I have a hiline on the CDS3 which I preferred over Chord. I think I need a 555PSU
I would say that vinyl has the ability to ‘make the hair on the back of your neck stand on end’ more than CD. The sound can just sparkle more. That said it depends very much on having your system setup properly, and not all music will do it and then not all the time. I listened To GoldFrapp’s Felt Mountain at the weekend - my first venture into their music and was amazed by the sounds. It was on CD, but not quite the same tingle to the guitar notes. My Vinyl source cost less than the CDX2/nDAC/XPSDR. I could add a 555DR and it might be as good! I have lots of CD music which is great to listen to.
