Trouble connecting Core via Windows Ten

Posted by: analog414 on 03 December 2017

Hello everyone, happy holidays to you!

I used to have no trouble connecting to the Core's "downloads" & "music" folders using Windows 10 on my main PC. As I right this my Windows XP computer has no issues connecting. But On the main PC I keep getting this error. I should mention I did get connected last week but that was short lived and this error keeps coming back. Sometimes I get in the server but the error starts when I try to open either of the Music or Downloads folder.

I think you need to map the two drives under ‘this pc’. That’s what I do with my nas anyway, and it’s what I did when I had a UnitiServe.

This is a reported problem with the Core that was, presumably inadvertently, introduced by Naim with the last firmware update (I have the same issue as does a friend of mine and a couple of forum members too. Naim haven't responded publicly to those reports at all so far as I know.) It affects Windows 7 as well as Windows 10. The fact that it doesn't seem to be a problem with the Star which uses an updated version of much the same firmware as the Core is hopeful for a Core fix soon.

I suggest you report the problem using the in-app feedback facility (as Naim say they don't routinely follow posts in the forum).

HH mapping the drives worked until it was broken with the last Core firmware update. Now the only way to get to the Core's downloads folder is by using windows explorer to navigate to the Core via its IP address. This is all explained in the so-called support wizard on-line...

Ah, that makes sense. I was suggesting how to do this with devices that are properly designed.
