NAC202 + NAP200 or NAP250?

Hi

I'm relatively new to all this so have a couple of questions that I want clarified:

1.  I assume that while the NAP200 will power the NAC202 in contrast the NAP250 won't?  Do you need a separate power supply (say a HiCap) if you have a NAC202 / NAP250 combination?

2.  My main question regards sound quality and whether a NAC202/NAP200/HiCap/NAPSC is likely to be a better combination than a NAC202/NAP250/HiCap/NAPSC?  My understanding is that while the NAP250 is generally considered superior to the NAP200 that the synergy between the NAC202/NAP250 will not be as great as that between the NAC202/NAP200?

I would appreciate any views on this.

1. Yes, you need a Hicap with a 250.

2. The general consensus is that to upgrade from 202/200, it’s better to go for 282/200 before you consider a 250.

Hi,

Concensus would be to upgrade the pre-amp first.  Any reason for you thinking about the 250 first

A lot depends on the source and speakers as well. It would be so helpful to have the full information.

I mentioned the NAP250 because I saw a second hand one for a good price.  I already have a NAC202 and NAPSC and am waiting until finances allow to purchase the power amp.

Source is REGA RP10 and CDX2 (no psu)

Speakers are Totem Sttaf.

If you’re not prepared to part with the 202, at least treat it to a Hicap, although your source is easily good enough to benefit from a 282.

I would go for a 282.
