NAC 72 QUESTION

Does a late nac 72 version with cd input has a better SQ with cd replay then its earlier version. Leni

Earlier 72s  without a labelled CD input had the NA328 Variable Level Line input cards to adjust for CD input.

I have owned both versions on the 72, both used with a Naim CD player and I struggled to hear any difference.

Thanks, did you try it without the phono board.

Are you using the 72 for just vinyl replay?

When I used the 72 all unused boards were removed. For vinyl replay the mm and mc boards are superb.

Mine has a BNC input for a cd player via one of it’s Aux inputs. Next to a BNC for vinyl replay confusing but aounds great.

Adams is not the CD input version, his 72 has two pairs of BNC one he is using for CD the other vinyl.

CD version only has one pair of BNC inputs, the CD version has a DIN socket.

Personally I wouldn't change your two pair BNC version

Thanks HM.

With the original early NAC72, all you need are NA326 boards in one of the BNC Inputs and you have an extra line level input - so effectively a "CD version" too.

No particular differences between them (i.e. no special accommodation for CD).

Instead of the 2 sets grey, shielded leads (necessary for the low signal levels of phono) you get one - the other set reverts to the standard, line level wiring.

One benefit (over RCA phono or BNC) would come from the use of the DIN socket (see - https://forums.naimaudio.com/to...m-use-din-connectors ). However, if your are not already using your Tuner input you can run your CD player through there.
