It got a bit out of hand, there were a number of possible breaches of forum AUP, I removed it for review and pruning, but it may take a while, so may well just be better left in limbo...

Personally I was enjoying the different opinions, views, humour, the odd bit of sarcasm...abit of rudeness, the occasional person being offended ......very similar to most threads really....

Some folk on here always get overexcited when the subject of posh cables raises its ugly head.

Why?

Is it because of the perceived poor material value is an issue that causes friction between those that have spent significant sums on posh cables and those who will never accept that such little material value could ever translate into VFM in terms of SQ enhancement?

I have observed on occasion that the protagonists can fall into two camps: Those who have taken the time to home demo particular cables and those who have not. I do accept however that some have made the effort to demo posh cables and still reject them.

Heated debates always seem to ensue about posh cables and it always intrigues me.

I may of course have opened another bun fight with this post requiring Richard to step in, even though I have not uttered the 'B' word.

I'd throw in that some who eschew 'foo' cables are often heard to express a preference for, say, the cheap lead they found in a skip.

SO - leads do make a difference but cost doesn't necessarily go with merit.

The smarter ones hear NO difference between anything. I've often wanted (but seldom to the point of action) to ask in what areas of hifi they do detect improvements in sound quality.

I remember I was one of the early adopters of SL interconnect and SL speaker cables in a mid-classic system. I made the mistake of posting my experience of these cables on here.

Needless to say, I was savaged by some on here. Now the use of SL cables in classic systems seems more commonplace and the more recent bun fights (you could call them current bun fights - sorry couldn't resist) are a little more evenly matched.

Right, I am behind the sofa and braced for the first incoming bun! Do your worst!

I’m inclined to think theirs quite a number who comment but have not actually heard  high end  cables because they have already been dismissed due to their cost.....

I often listen to a friend's system with a FULL LOOM of Nordost stuff. It does pass through my mind "If this is the solution - is this a problem I need to solve".

We all have our cut-off points and it's always nice to be rude to those who don't validate them.

Im beginning to think some have nothing to do all day other then being offended by anyone who has a different view then their own

I didn’t realise the thread had been moved to the padded cell..

I appreciate that you have a difficult task, but personally I would prefer it, if anyone oversteps the mark they just have their posts removed and if necessary their posts stopped completely rather then a thread removed or re allocated to another part of the forum.

That said ....I’m sure you no best..

Sorry Wenger, you asked whether this thread was "being moderated already".  I have not moderated it so I'm wondering what it is that you think is missing or has been edited.  

n.b. any thread that isn't about music, hifi, streaming, or home theatre usually belongs in the padded cell - including threads about the forum itself.

I came to the conclusion someone had already made an inappropriate comment, I didn’t realise you had just moved the thread. So my mistake.

I had been quite enjoying the banter, it is quite a good distraction from the stress of running a company and often dealing with far worse. 

Senor, Senor let’s disconnect these cables, let’s overturn these tables, this place don’t make sense to me no more.

I do agree there should be a place for obscure or non hifi/music related threads. The trouble with dumping such threads in the Padded Cell is that they tend to often wither and die prematurely because few (or rather fewer) tend to venture there (sorry, here). I have happened across some very entertaining threads in the Cell by chance.

I would imagine forum sub titles have been debated before on here and I do recognise the need to keep stuff roughly on topic. Shame though as this one was shaping up to be a classic.
