Upgraded from 202 to 282?

For those who are thinking this is the upgrade the right way to go, I can say that my advice is do it. The 202 is a fine machine but the 282 just takes the sound to the next level.

Agreed, one of the most significant upgrades I have made.
Had mine for a number of years now - superb pre-amp.
Gets my vote - 282 is the start of Naim proper and will take all your sources up a level.
I agree with those above, it was a significant upgrade and performance boost for me, highly recommended.

I had that very system upgraded from a 202 and yes of course it was better and has taken two power amp upgrades in it's stride but for me it wasn't the night and day change that some describe. The 202/200 with a Hicap is still a very capable amplifier and matched with the right speakers is capable of reproducing great music especially with analogue sources like the LP12.
I did this upgrade earlier this year. I never really questioned the 202, but the 282 brought a lot of added clarity. Enjoy, it is a real toe tapper.
And best of all...if you cannot afford the 282..
The 82 still sounds great as well..

I agree that the 202/200 is a great combination and well matched. For me, the move to the 282 made me curious about what a 250 might offer. I know that it is out of favour on here, but I found a late 250.2 for decent money and the added punch of the larger transformer has been another step up. Once you get to a decent level of performance then the steps get smaller. However, my mate has a reasonable system at a lower price point and I heard his jaw hit the floor when he came around to ‘see what all the fuss was about’; step change in action.

Agree

Totally agree, 202/200/hicap-Dr is an outstanding combination!
I upgraded from 202 to 282 a couple of months ago. The 282 is a definite step up, but only if sources are up to it and also at a price - talking second hand a 202 can be found around £700 but a 282 holds value much better and a good used one is £2k upwards. A maxed out 202 is still great hifi and a bargain.
