IPhone Autocorrect / spellchecking

Posted by: Kevin Richardson on 16 December 2017

My phone no longer provides autocorrect, word prediction, and spellchecking. This is only true when using this forum. Anybody else having tbis issue? [Really a problem for me as I have fat fingers.]

Huh... I fixed it by removing the Russian keyboard. Strange as I've used that keyboard for a few years with no problem. ????

I bet Apple autocorrect is responsible for more spelling mistakes than all other writing combined. I might give that Russian keyboard a try!

You can turn it off on you iPhone.  In Settings>General>Keyboard>Autocorrect.  Then toggle off.   I tried it for a while and then turned it back on.

Once you learn to continuously check the suggested words, rather than just looking at what you are typing, it works just great, I think.

I think many people couldn't care less about accurate spelling, grammar, etc. and wouldn't bother to read back their own text before sending it. Personally, I like to get these things right, and will take the time to read through everything before I hit the button, but I think it's important not to get wound up by people who either can't or won't make any effort. Life's too short!

Going back to Apple autocorrect, I'm pretty sure that when I have it turned on, I have to make far more corrections to Apple's incorrect 'corrections' than I do to my own mistakes.
