System Pics 2018

Welcome to System Pics 2018.
To start things off, here are a couple of pictures of my setup. There have been some big changes over the past year; a 300 and a 555PS, and some extra shelves to accommodate them.

On imgur, you should use the "Direct Link", second down on the menu, not the "Image Link" at the top.

So it's ok for people to take pictures of their incredibly expensive living spaces but someone has a watch in the foreground and you want to make a sarcastic comment quite possibly in an attempt to make another forum member feel bad about themselves in the process. Nice one.

What you’ve just done Bob is called a ‘projection’ in psychology
Bob, surely you must realise that this thread has nothing to do with hifi, and everything to do with one-upmanship?
Kevin JC, that must be a heck of a lot of speaker cable. I guess SL is out of the question....
Lovely room, very cosy for a big space.

That is not true, or it’s most certainly not the intention. All systems are equally welcome, whether it be a Qb or a Statement. If people post pictures of their systems it follows that rooms will be included, some of which will be in expensive houses and some of which won’t. Let’s just try to enjoy seeing people’s pictures. If negative comments are made, all it achieves is to put people off posting.

Thanks Stu. I should make it clear that the room is all the good work of my wife - I just help by messing it up with expensive boxes and wires!
Yes, SL Speaker cable would be a big hit as I think I’d need 8metres or so. Also complicated by the fact that it runs under the floorboards in a a quite narrow conduit. Easy enough when you can pull the cable through and then terminate it with plugs afterwards, but a potential problem (?) with a pre-made, airplugged SL cable?

Thanks Adam now when I'm in need of a bit of Psychob***** I know who to come to.
OK, let's all be civil here. Outside of images that may cause general offence, this is a thread that is open to pictures of systems of all shapes, sizes and budgets. Personally I derive just as much pleasure seeing a modest but well honed and focussed system as I do from seeing some of the fantastic set-ups that some here are lucky enough to call on day after day. Thanks.
Oh dear and I had a 25 year old Habitat pine mantle clock in the back of my image. I’m terribly sorry if I offended in any way
I too enjoy looking at these and strangely it’s the chrome bumper and olive components I like to see most. Do play nicely chaps and it’s certainly not all about mine’s bigger than yours.
Oh....and the pine clock still keeps perfect time
HH and Richard, a much needed grounding of people on this thread, which is for me, and should be a delight. Let’s keep 2018, informative and social. Life is way too short.

It's a Philippe Patek 5085.
Antoni Patek- polish immigrant, one of the Patek Philippe founders

+1. My last post was purely a light hearted mickey take. Sorry if anyone took it seriously.
Frustration understatement, so just for a moment pretend I am a 6 year old, I do not see anything about direct link on Imgur, only option I see is copy link, tried that and fail.

Yes, thought it something special.
i have a Jaeger leCoutre ultra thin master perpetual in white gold and will probably get a philippe Patek for my 50th in a couple of years time.
I read that a Patek Philippe is the watch most frequently bought by bankers when they receive their first bonus. Whether that’s a recommendation I don’t know. Anyway, ‘what watch are you wearing today’ is perhaps better off as a separate thread. Socks are one thing, but posh watches are not ideal for System Pics.
Winkyincanada. You are not wrong about Flickr being different. I have had several attempts at posting from Flickr without success. Would any kind soul be prepared to enlighten me as to how to post images from Flickr on here?
Cheers, Steve

Open an individual image in Imgur, and you should see a list of links on the R. The Direct Link, second on the list, is the one you need:-

Hi EBT
I am the supreme wizard of numptiness. Good morning.I am here to help.
I have had the same issue but figured it out. On my windows desktop in the imgur site there is a dragdown menu under your name in top Right corner . The top 3 words in this menu are: "images, next is "gallery', and then "album profile". Double click on picture you want to post on "images", NOT "gallery" pictures NOT "album profile". The correct box, "direct link" then comes up on the right and you can use this to paste to the "mountain" logo on the naim forum.
On the "gallery" pictures the "direct link" does not come up. Hope this helps.
got it cheers , was using the app, logged on pc and seems to good

Yep.
1) In Flickr click on the photo so it is showing as a single image on the page.
2) Down in the lower right will appear some icons (if they are greyed out, you're "zoomed" click the image again).
3) Click the on that is a curved arrow going up and to the right. A dialogue box will pop up.
4) Select the "Embed" option from the options by clicking on the word "Embed" (it is perhaps not obvious that they are options - but they are)
5) Select your size, and then copy the highlighted text in the dialogue box. "Control C" on a PC "Command C" on a Mac.
6) Go to your reply dialogue on the Naim forum
7) Do not click the little mountain picture icon!
8) Instead click the one that looks like this <> It's the one on the far right
9) Paste all the text you copied into the box that appears
10) Click OK. Your picture should now appear in your reply. Scale it to suit by dragging the corner.
11) Click "Post Reply"
We should rename this topic as,
”System Pics 2018 / how to post a picture”
Late night tunes to unwind and a different view for this thread
Gets better every day, 144 hours constant running helps. Still more to come I think. Best single decision I made in this crazy Naim journey
