System Pics 2018

Welcome to System Pics 2018.
To start things off, here are a couple of pictures of my setup. There have been some big changes over the past year; a 300 and a 555PS, and some extra shelves to accommodate them.

Nice system, José. Have you considered putting the preamp on a separate shelf, if might sound better kept away from the PSU and power amp?
What's weird is that I got an email notification of this post, and the text was in English, but here, it is in Spanish. Maybe Google or Apple are automatically translating it?

2018 Upgrade
How's it sound? Nice upgrade?
Just a few hours into the upgrade. It is sounding quite nice, deeper bass, improved detail, a tighter grip are first impressions. Brand new out of the box so they will need time to settle in but I was pleasantly surprised how good they do sound from the get go. The first listen to something new is always tough for me, the psychological effect of wanting it to be better has to be taken into consideration. Right now I am very happy with the NDX/SN2 combination.
I think it was a great upgrade for me. I purchased the last week of December and the boxes arrived in the shop on Tuesday and were delivered and set up this afternoon. The heavily discounted pricing for the end of year sale on the NDX, plus avoiding the projected 2018 price hikes were two incentives. The third incentive was the trade-in value of my two boxes, so from a monetary point of view it worked out well for me.
I am looking forward to the next 30/60 days for everything to settle in (including me).
Very cool. Enjoy!

Soon I will change location and put the CDX on the first shelf, Nac 112 in the middle and the rest below. Now I do not have space.

Looks nice and seems as if you had a good deal I think it's quite surprising the trade in value of Naim equipment.
Hi Phil, thanks. Yes the rack is very similar to a HIFI Racks system. It was made by a very skilled Polish joiner in the West Midlands. I asked him if he could make some isolation platforms and he said he was already thinking of doing so and just needed a nudge!
I did notice an improvement particularly when playing records on the RP8 so I’d say it’s well worth looking into.
I’ve moved components around this morning with a view to letting the N272 breath a bit more so I’ve put that on the top level of the left stack and I’ve also taken the outer plinth off the RP8 for the first time. It looks really cool! I’ll post another picture of the new set up shortly.

Hi David
How do the isolation shelves connect with the rack they sit on?
Removing the outer plinth of the RP8/10 is supposed to improve the the SQ. Richard Danes photos of the RP10 with plinth look so good that you are sold on it. But it does look good without.
The down sides are
- dust - it may be worth giving the felt a clean or turning it over or leaving a naff LP on to protect the felt!
- grandchildren damaging the cartridge cantilever
My top rack is 41” (1.05m) from the ground which is enough for the younger ones for the time being!
Spacing between boxes really improves SQ. My dealer swapped my short legs giving 10” (25 cm) between shelves. Let us know how your change goes.
Phil
Hi Phil,
The isolation platforms sit on metal spikes and shoes like the legs do on the main shelves. I'll post a pic. Very good points re the RP8. I'll probably try it for while and see how it goes dust wise. I have three children in the house so need to be careful but the risk is somewhat mitigated by the fact that my system is in a dedicated room with a lock on the door!! It sounds great without the outer plinth but I'm as interested in whether the improvement I'm noticing since the reorg is due to relocating the N272.

Any name clues?
Surely postimp the business name wouldn't hurt, it's not against forum rules afaik?
He’s an individual / sole trader and doesn’t have websites etc.
Aha, fair enough.
winkyincanada!
Thank you very much indeed for your detailed set of instructions on how to post pictures from Flickr. Much appreciated. All that remains now is for me to get a camera and join Flickr....... Watch this space!
Cheers, Steve

Gets better every day, 144 hours constant running helps. Still more to come I think. Best single decision I made in this crazy Naim journey

Is there a prize for identifying the equipment in this pic? ..and perhaps a bonus for getting the boxes in the right vertical order?
I'd be saying the top box is a NAC52... but I got confused after that, even after looking up your profile, Mort

Good idea to have the fireplace in the back of your kit to speed up the warming process when powering after a shutdown. Where I live, we are not allowed to use the fireplace (pollution), it is disabled and for long time I had a kit inside it.
Very nice upgrade, enjoy!!!

I'll try.
52
Snaxo. HC
NDX
Supercap
XPSDR
250
250
Could benefit from swapping SC and XPS to bottom two rows with 250s above, but my order may be wrong, and there's also cable length to consider.

Not sure what I can offer but it could be a cool game for another thread.
