Welcome to System Pics 2018.
To start things off, here are a couple of pictures of my setup. There have been some big changes over the past year; a 300 and a 555PS, and some extra shelves to accommodate them.

I am actually surpised to find that displaying 500 active DBL systems creates some "heat" here on the forum , but am quite happy to see more of these fabulous "old school" top naim systems.
Enjoy your system I know how sublime this sounds, also congrats to your third 500!
Cheers, F

Arguably, for a 'proper' old school DBL system, perhaps the boxes should be Olive, rather than black?
I did say 'arguably'...
Very nice system, though, and the DBLs look rather good in black, IMO.
NAC 552 came out in 2002, the 500 preceded it, the DBLs ended in 2008 For argument's sake. |

That was in an exchange when you made an attempt to 'play' with HH's forum name. He said "How else could I take it? I wouldn’t call you French Letter if you give dicky replies" Dicky is another english slang meaning bad or defective. Now you need to research french letter in english slang.
French Rooster posted:Dave***t posted:French Rooster posted:it’s like a japanese smile.....
What's this mean? Not a phrase I've come across before.
a japanese can smile to a person and think the contrary.....if i can explain like that.
....and I thought you were referring to the song Turning Japanese!!

I meant acting like a dick. Anyway, we have moved on from that, FR and I have made up, and I see no need to mention it again.
ahem... anybody have a picture of a hifi system that they would like to post on this thread?
Hungryhalibut posted:You are most welcome. I’m sure it sounds absolutely wonderful.
Be assured it sounds as ridiculously good as it looks
Oh yes, photos. The only non Naim part of my system...

OK, I'll be more specific. This thread has gone far enough off-topic. Time to leave it and move on. Thank you.

until you see fit to insult someone else
For goodness sake, leave it. FR and I have let it go, Richard has been very clear, so I don’t understand what you seek to achieve by stirring the pot. Why not post a picture and get the thread on topic rather than prolonging the pain?

Seventeen boxes, plus record player and speakers. I’m sure it sounds absolutely brilliant, but it does look rather ridiculous. We then see Graham’s Vitus outfit, with three, albeit rather unstylish boxes, which is a very different approach. No criticism is meant or implied, of either setup. But why is everything just so.... big? How many boxes is too many?
Mr Jealous shows up...”no criticism...”. I tell you why: Because it sounds fabulous!
Of course it sounds bloody fabulous. As I said in the very words you quoted. But I still think that one shouldn’t need such a huge lot of equipment to get great sound at home. It doesn’t make me ‘Mr Jealous’ as I wouldn’t want it anyway. So let’s stop slinging childish insults.

Oh come on Richard...that's CRAZY talk there!

Tony, can I ask where you had it serviced? I have a very similar Sony (slightly larger, with SW) which works fine, but it would be good to know, just in case.

Just try to be nice, it’s easy and doesn’t hurt. if you can’t say something nice don’t say nothing at all .. so please don’t spout you negative attitude. And please let’s stop it here. Life is to short for all this bs here. This place should be fun and about our passion I assume we have in common ... musical bliss;-)

Are you serious? That was just a little tongue-in -cheek joke as the thread was getting a bit silly, just for people to lighten up.
I do have the radio though, given to me new as a present about 15 years ago. It is in mint condition and used maybe twice. And no, it’s not for sale. Sorry!

No, I wasn’t being serious either - perhaps my post should have used some emojis???????? (and a photo!) It would be cheaper to buy a replacement off ebay than get a repair done.
Back on topic, I have some new speakers!
Tricky, used outdoor?
Ardbeg10y posted:Tricky, used outdoor?
No, in a conservatory which we have just had replaced (like for like).
It's an old Bose Lifestyle system and I changed to the little jewel cube speakers from the slightly larger ones as the grills had faded badly. The jewel ones have painted metal grills so won't suffer from this.
I feed it with a Yamaha MusicCast Smart Sound Adapter which is a bit like a Sonos connect but cheaper. The Bose has a few line out options which feed a couple of Muso QB's in our kitchen and office which are adjacent to the conservatory which gives a simple multiroom arrangement at the back of the house.
There is a sub woofer behind the sofa against the house wall so all you see are the little jewel speakers and a remote control which is RF so doesn't need any line of sight.
Whilst not high end it does sound rather pleasant and stretching out on the lovely new sofa with a kindle looking out onto the garden is a very pleasant experience with some background music. Whilst fully glazed the room no longer overheats as the glass is high performing, keeping the room relatively cool even on hot sunny days.
It would be a difficult room to put a decent system into and what I have does fill the room nicely with some tunes!
